Another way to prevent woodcutters from cutting into glades is holding down CTRL while painting the trees you want to chop. The game will automatically not select the last trees before opening a glade.

Another handy bit: While doing the Alt-to-assign-workers thing, you can scroll your mousewheel to rotate through the different worker species.

Just finished my 33rd hour of this game and found your video. By the 3rd minute, you had already taught me a bunch of button holds I didn't know about. Thanks!

This was super helpful thanks! I've been having trouble right out of the gate with orders that I couldn't possibly complete! Waiting to draft building is something I didn't even consider until you mentioned it, but it makes complete sense! Thanks so much!

blueprint priority at first I was prioritizing building blocks also, but eventually you don't need that much Fabric or Blocks to waste a blueprint. Usually the major issue is the hunger, and cooking not only grants resolve, but also provides much more food rations comparing to raw food consumption. so my priorities: 1. Planks 2. Jerky/ Kebab (meat cooking is much easier than Grain based) 3. Tools/ Crystallized Dew / Grain Farm(early crowbars = give you more blueprints or resources to move on) 4. Flour / Pies / cookies 5. Bricks / Fabric / Coal

Good tips. I play on the easiets difficulty because I don't have the patience to "get good" but the game is still fun.

So ive got like 27~ hours on the game and was quite skeptic at the start about the usefullness of the tips but some of these things i genuienly didnt know and really suprised and helped me. the tips of pointing your woodcutters at the woods, toggling off coal, impation actually being useful for keeping danger levels down, leaving orders complete without turinging them in because of the penetly to resolve. all will help me massively so genuienly thank you

In blueprint selection, always prioritize anything the creates coal ie Kiln. Coal is an extremely efficient fuel and frees up your wood in producing planks or other resources. 1 coal burns for 1 minute while 1 wood burns for 15 seconds so efficiency ratio between coal and wood is 1:4 The kiln allows you to turn 10 wood into 5 coal for a coal to wood efficiency of 1:2 which means you are saving wood in order to use it for other stuff like planks, logs or food You can also skip the entire process of taking the kiln and burning wood into coal by finding coal mines which will net you at least 80 coal at basically no cost.

I searched for a way to mitigate the randomness that this game is crushing me with- and this video has helped me immensely. Even though I should have figured that out for myself.......

I came looking for tips because I'm really bad at this game. I love Against the Storm but I'm struggling at just veteran difficulty. Funnily enough I broadly do everything you're describing here, the small glades vs dangerous glades is a nice tip though. I guess I just need to be faster and not wait too long to open dangerous glades etc.

Left click the race portrait and you can see all your worker assignments and drag workers to new jobs.

Against the Storm is wonderful. It has so much stuff to dig in, while being quite accessible on the lower difficulty levels. Also it rewards losing really nicely so the learning curve experience was very pleasant (at least for me)

Had NO idea about Lighter Treatment option. I reached Prestige 5 last week-end without ever using it 😂🤣. I do have 100+h in the game. Ty for sharing your expertise. The only thing missing was something on cornerstones and how you can use trade and merchants to get cornerstones, blueprints to help you through a difficult map setting. i.e. getting the 5% chance of death increasing every 15 sec if need for complex food and services is not met (the most annoying storm debuff in my view) is renderer useless by selecting the correct cornerstones - get infused tools or money when a villager dies/leaves; queen’s impatience does not grow when somebody leaves/dies; each new group brings 2 extra villagers. Have you ever removed woodcutters from production building during storm? Stop all wood production to reduce hostility? Never gave it a go, but curious to see the results (assuming large enough stockpile)

I always thought that resolve threshold actually grows with reputation you gain from resolve of specific specie not with your total reputation points

IcOn, what would you have done if this were an actual run and you opened that dangerous node and didn't have the resources to get rid of the negative event? Would you build a trader asap and try to buy the resources after probably taking the hit once or twice?
@Omega5729 Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's often the best path and it's one of the reasons people like to open glades around the end of the year 1 Storm. The trader comes at the beginning of the 2nd year if you build him during the storm, which lines up with just after you open the glade and gives you the whole 2nd year to try and fix the glade event. One tip I heard, bringing Oil when you embark and making fabric let's you solve a huge number of glade events with just those 2 items. Just remember to turn off oil burning at the hearth.

Felt like I needed a tutorial after I almost lost on pioneer. Queens impatience was 0.02 away from ending my run when I completed a duplicate quest to lower it by 2 😅

This game has so many moving parts, it's no shame to feel swamped even on the easiest difficulties. I grinded like 4 or 5 games on Pioneer when I started out before I started to feel safe inside the games mechanics. Have fun!

I'm nearly 10 hrs into the game on settler and I still haven't figured out how to win a run (aside from the ingame tutorial). Sad I know. Will be using your tutorials and tips for sure! thanks.

I just picked up the game and had a similar issue in my first couple runs. One of the most important realizations I had is that you’re ultimately racing against the clock to fill up your blue meter, so you need to complete orders or open glades and resolve events! Did you get out of this rut? Any tips?
@Dearestandme Жыл бұрын
@@thisissosounique yes. I have played a lot (100 hrs a lot) to better understand the production chains and game mechanics (still learning) using Pioneer and Settler difficulty and eventually moved up to Veteran and Viceroy. Getting more upgrades in the Citadel helps too. Haven't won past Prestige 1 though which is okay and because the game is still changing quite a bit with Rainpunk stuff. Also watching YT tutorials helps as well. Icon's early tutorials of this game helped me immensely (although he should add tutorials with the new Rainpunk mechanics)

pick the easiet orders to complete. and plan your settlement with the sole objection to complete the orders. that's it.
