The ICA Africa Programme invites leaders in records and archives management in Africa to a virtual webinar on leadership and advocacy for records management. The session sahre insights on how records managers and archivists can advocate for their profession and gain much needed support and alignment from all stakeholders in advancing the records management agenda. This session is ideal for heads of records management functions, leaders of archival institutions, records management trainers and students of records management.
This session is facilitated by Nampombe Saurombe. Nampombe Saurombe, a Professor in the Department of Information Science at the University of South Africa, has over 15 years of dedicated experience teaching library and information science courses. Her professional journey also includes significant leadership roles in Quality Assurance within Higher Education at the College of Human Sciences, University of South Africa. Saurombe's research focuses on vital areas such as public programming of archives, records management and archival advocacy, and the imperative task of decolonising archives. As the co-chair of the expert group on research services and outreach (EGRSO) at the International Council on Archives (ICA), she actively contributes to shaping global discourse in her field. Recognised for her scholarly contributions, Saurombe has presented and published extensively on these topics domestically and internationally.
