It is a beautiful song!!! Something that gets overlooked is that Ralph Towner wrote it!

I am so grateful to Paul Winter for all this beauty he has given us. It’s unbelievable to me but it was 40 years ago I first heard Icarus. My Mom had found the album “Common Ground.” It became an on and off sound track to my life. Although I loved this music so much AND I even live in Mr Winter’s home state of CT, I never saw the Consort live until last weekend in the Trinity College Chapel. It was an emotional experience. To hear Wolf Eyes live was thrilling. And to witness Mr Winter’s amazing ability to collaborate with so many musicians, styles, and creatures….I feel like your music brings the whole world together, and creates something beautiful in the process. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤

This was used as an imaging theme for a radio station that I loved over 50 years ago, it took me years to find out what it actually was. It was worth the wait!

I've listened to this 10 times. Perfect timing. And perfect for my ears.

I remember hearing this on WNEW FM in the early 70s. From that I bought the album and when you came to Stony Brook in the late 70s, I saw you there with a couple friends at the time. You brought a timber wolf to the concert who just yawned when we tried to get it to howl. Thank you for the music.

I love it, I have great memories associated with this classic piece; every musician is a master of his instrument, plus the fine vocalist. Excellent! 🍀💚💕

Love this song so much. Could someone tell me what the instruments are? Is that a soprano sax? And the big one? A bassoon?
@PaulWinterConsort2 жыл бұрын
Hi! You're spot on! The one on the far left (the big one) is a bassoon played by Jeff Boratko and Paul is playing a soprano sax. -Conor (from Living Music)

Thank you. I believe I have also seen it played with oboe or maybe that was another song. As I pass into heaven, I hope this song is playing😍

@@karenvknight6516 You're absolutely right! The original recording, from 1970, has oboe and often Paul will play this tune with an oboe player when he does it live. Thank you for your kind words! -Conor (from Living Music)

A good version, no doubt but the original is still the best.
