I use these in my basement and for my cigars... I plan to make this mod, thanks for sharing!

Useful hack. I did the same long time ago. Tired of replacing batteries all the time and often there is a poor connection.

I just got some of these. Above 1.5V the LCD gets funky. Below 1.5V it's nice and clear.

Great idea, I usually have a card of those small cells, but it's worth considering converting the things that use them too. I like the fact that you are using your 3d printers to create small useful stuff.

Next amazon order I'll get a couple of these, great device. Maybe print a custom casing of this hygrometer for AAA battery? You should be able to design a two part print without snaps but with one screw and some kind of slide locking pretty fast and painless.
@RinoaL Жыл бұрын
That feels like a waste of plastic when they already have a good plastic case tbh.
@rodtoddconsulting6319 Жыл бұрын
@@RinoaL Yes the case is good. Too bad the snaps are on the back part. When I buy these they'll be living in wasteful cases. ;) Will reply to this thread with a thingiverse link if it all works out.

Great idea! I have a bunch of humidity meters around the house and in many storage containers too (I have lots of plastic filament for 3d printing, and certain types like nylon and flexible filaments have to be extremely dry), but I actually took the lazy approach, and bought a type (HTC-1) that takes AAA battery by default. I only have one of the coin cell type humidity meters, and I hate the fact that I can't run it with rechargeables, I hate buying throw away batteries. I must say it never occurred to me that I could modify it like you did in this video.

They work great for putting in a vacuum bag with 3D printer filament.

Three sensors right next to each other and displaying different temperatures & humidity levels. So, just how accurate are these sensors? And, does slightly higher battery voltage affect the accuracy of readings? Might want to do a comparison test to see.
@RinoaL Жыл бұрын
Once left to sit, they read very close to one another. The reason these were showing different readings was because I was holding them which added head and moisture, but then was also soldering which added a LOT of heat.
@bwselectronic Жыл бұрын
Some of those you can change between Celsius and Fahrenheit
@daliasprints9798 Жыл бұрын
I came here to say: but can you mod them to read temperature in civilized units?
@bwselectronic Жыл бұрын
@@daliasprints9798 some can be changed some can't. I've gotten both. You have to read the listing carefully
@RinoaL Жыл бұрын
Yeah I buy a mixture of Celsius and Fahrenheit since I like both units of measure for different things.

@@RinoaL I was just curious if the board in these things is universal and has a point you can solder or desolder to switch modes if the switch was omitted.
@RinoaL Жыл бұрын
Oh sorry, I don't know. The board doesn't seem to have any obvious switch ability on it. I think its just programmed at the factory or a resistor value.
@novanut1964 Жыл бұрын
great video, i have alot of the temperature units similar to these i can modify, thanks

Nice video! Is there a link for the AAA holder?
@Eratas1 Жыл бұрын
Ready made AAA holders are probably multiple times cheaper then printing it yourself.
@RinoaL Жыл бұрын
Here you go. And no, CheapVlog, printing them is like 3 cents, nobody can compete with a 3d printer when it comes to stuff like this. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3222693/makes

I bought a plant rotator... you can set it for 1 or 2 rotations per week. It moves about 3 degrees every hour or something. 2 C batteries. Who has C batteries? I just converted them to USB. Works fantastic

I made a solar powered electric dart board...in case I'm ever in a field and just have to play darts. Anything that uses batteries ( aa, aaa, c, d) can be made USB. Even that giant 80s boom box. I finally bought a field so... I'm gonna play electric darts in it! I can't wait!

Nice. I've been throwing around the idea of getting a rpi pico and the appropriate sensor to get my outside temp and humidity. Just piping it into my phones weather app is something I'm unsure of how I'd do.

I spy a Commodore PET. One of the 4000 series models if I recall. I grew up on Commodore systems, as perhaps you can tell by my username and avatar. Looking forward to a video on it.

You definitely do. I just got this model 4032 from a friend who donated a large collection of computers a few days ago. I've wanted one of these for a very very long time. I think I'm going to do a series on seeing if ChatGPT can write code for it.

@RinoaL Жыл бұрын
It isn't us keeping it this hot, it's the weather. It got up to 89 degrees today outside, but no, this was only showing 86 degrees because I had just soldered it. As you can see the others were at 76 degrees.

No, the people that need the basics need basic videos, this is more advanced
