Love the cattle tanks as a way to ‘farm’ aquatic insects…not to mention observe them in your own backyard!

We do plan to expand the number of them! We have another smaller version that is outdoors all the time. And then I have a 40 or 50 gallon that has a tank heater in it that is ourdoors.

Love water bugs. A big tank for them is next on my list. If youre ever having issues with the tanks freeIng over you can float a ball or something in it and the motion will help keep a spot from freezing over and keep a breathing hole.

Great video! I love water bugs! I thought that the ice thing was really interesting. Insects are so incredibly hardy! I wonder if any water bugs in cooler climates overwinter in a similar way. Glad we are back to posting on Fridays!

I have been very busy with construction lately, and will be busy again in March with finishing touches on guest rooms. Not sure if I'll have time to make vids during that month, but posting here is one of my favorite aspects of involvement in the hobby and the youtube community is wonderful. Thanks TBG!

Thanks Marcus and I'd certainly rather have a tank of ants in the house than a cat or dog. It's a tougher sell to most people though.😉

If possible, it would be really cool if you could do a video in some place like Costa Rica, and showcase some tropical insects. particularly, it would be awesome to find a Dynastes Hercules or a Megasoma elephas! Those have always been some of my favorite beetle species, mainly due to their sheer size. Thanks!

In the short time since you moved to southeastern Arizona, you have become an Arizona ambassador by promoting ecotourism. Amazing! How do you avoid mosquito larvae in your water tank?

Cool word! I've actually never seen any mosquito larvae here on the property, though we do see mosquitoes in the summer months (during the day, strangely, and just after dusk only). 99% of the places we go around here have no mosquitoes though, which makes it very nice to be out looking for other bugs!

Oh, I forgot to mention that my new favorite part of the bug biz is the hosting and touring with other bug lovers. It's still just Year 2 and last year was really just a practice year, but we'll get a little bit better at all this each year and I hope to ride off into the sunset with that part of the biz.
