Heather, you have inspired me to start my own charms and I love you for it! I had a question though.. I got the extra fine snow by recollections glitter which I think is pretty close to the Martha Stuart clear glitter. When I glitter things, even after baking I get glitter still making its way on my fingers. Am I doing something wrong? Also Sculpey gloss glaze I use for varnish isn't too shiny and doesn't go on smooth. Can I have your recommendation please? Thanks in advance!

Brittany Jones Are you using the TLS before the glitter? After baking some can come off that wasn't entirely touching the TLS before baking. Some will come off the first couple time they are handled until the loose glitter has fallen away. I am using Triple thick right now. Future floor polish is also supposed to work well, I have read a lot about that one being used by many polymer clay artists.. The new sculpey glaze is really thin, and I haven't been able to get a glass like gloss with it. Triple thick works better. It still isn't perfect. I read recently that someone was having issues with it getting sticky after time, but I haven't had that issue with it. I live in pretty high humidity too. make sure you are adding it with a completely dry brush though. I think some will clean it in water, and use it right after. I also wait till they are cool before glossing them.

Thank you for all your advice and tips! I will be sure to put more TLS with glitter next time, that will probably fix it. The triple thick seems to be much shiner in your videos than the Sculpey gloss I'm currently using. It is now me business to pick some up. Thank you again for your time :D

Brittany Jones Your welcome :) I do like the triple thick better than the new sculpey glaze. I hope they bring back the old glaze. The old glaze was my very favorite.

Really nice to see a professional polymer clay artist use sculpey 3. A lot of the other youtubers frown on using it due to its fragileness. I do the same, i use premo translucent and mix it with it.

I'm thinking about getting a heart shaped cutter, and I'm wondering how big the one you use for your mochi is? Also I love all your clay tutorials, I've watched all of them! :)

Thank you so much for watching, and commenting! The Heart size I use for the mochi, and truffles is 3/8" across at the widest part of the heart. The brand I use for many of my cutters is Kemper. I own all the circle and heart sizes. I have had them for years and they are still in good shape. Heather

Sorry for bothering you so much but could you make a tutorial for your Brie cheese? Also instead of using the super fine super clear glitter can't you just use white chalk pastel?
@heathernwells
@heathernwells 11 жыл бұрын
You aren't bothering me at all :) I will make one for the brie soon. Brie is another easy one. I will try to make it this coming weekend for you. You can try it with the pastel. but if you varnish the outside the pastel will melt a bit. If it was purely doll house and not being worn as jewelry you should be fine with pastel :) Thank you again for your interest. The clear glitter is from the Martha Stewart brand, and I use it for several items. Some cake pops, decorating cakes etc.. Heather

I also have a question: How do you make the clay "rice dough" when you make the flavored mochi ice cream like strawberry and green tea?
@heathernwells
@heathernwells 11 жыл бұрын
Hi :) The written tutorial linked in the description has the clay recipes for the other colors. All the rice dough is mostly translucent with a little color. Green tea is Spanish Olive Premo, Chocolate is Burnt Umber Premo, and Strawberry is Dusty Rose Sculpey III . The trick is a lot of translucent and only a little color. ; ) I love translucent.

Could you make a tutorial for your rainbow snowcones and candied apples?
@heathernwells
@heathernwells 11 жыл бұрын
I will definitely make a snow cone tutorial. I am going to try to start doing them in themes mostly. Next weekend I am going to start a cherry theme. Then I will do a rainbow theme. I will do my snow cones first, then rainbow lollipops, cake, and maybe my rainbow boba (popping peals)

Do you have a flexible clay blade? They are in the super slicer set sold in the clay section of the store. The flexible on will bend a lot. I have also cut into my tiny foods by bending it as much as I could, and slicing a bit out that way. Email me at sweetandsavorytrinkets@yahoo.com I do have an extra cutter I can send you one.

I have made ice cream mochi before with sweet rice flour and flavored them using green tea matcha powder, and filled them with regular vanilla ice cream. It's really easy to make and they taste great.
