I noticed you set up your testo probes the same way I did. I used the id number that was lower for the low side and the higher number for the high, those stickers do not stay on long. Good job and great video.

Thanks for the video. Great job. The title of this video should be "MANITOWOC MODEL S - CLASS 101, you summarized the manual on a service call video that last less than 15 minutes. I worked with a lot manitowoc this summer and I wish I knew all these tips about these machines. After seeing the same model a few times and reading the manuals now I feel comfortable going to check a manitowoc.

Might be a good idea to add a bit of R22 vapor before you pump it up with Nitrogen. The dauber finds leaks better than a spray bottle. Except spraying large areas like a tube sheet end, there the spray bottle is king. I normally use my ears and wrist first, the Hg10 second, then use the dauber to locate exactly where. The Sporlan clamp with the bolts and nuts prevent the ding-dongs from crushing the pipes, the preformed clip on, is even faster and easier

Fieldpiece makes a fine probe. At Scotsman we use the the imanifold setup. Their probes seem to offer a bit closer tolerance.

Of all the equipment I've worked on Ice machines are my favorite.. too many they're mysterious and perplexing.. Nuggets,cubes,flakes,pillows,cylinders that popping and tinking just before and during harvest is strangely satisfying! I know too much phosgene! Has anyone noticed the large amount of leaks in the newer Indigo series,pop machine toppers? Did 12 last summer outta the box 4 leakers..all were in pinch off or TXV..

Sadly true.. mexico assembly and chinese valves.. you look old enough to remember when a lot of electric components moved south. Took a fews years but mexican production became quite good . Now China is the spot for motors ,etc and I miss Mexican products. Globalization, gotta love it.. Peace

Dave Nice Job Haven't use the heat past in last 12 years what I use is ( Cool Gel Heat Barrier Spray ) Ice Machine is a big mystery to everyone there not to bad to repair as long you have the ice machine service book for different brands because that what use to diagnose the ice machine.

i have had issues with the heat sheild gel if it touches the part to be brazed it can really screw things up. i have never noticed the evap superheat reference in the manitowoc manual thanks for the info. saw that deformity on a liquid line once in a walk in evap, just before the txv. really puzzled me never saw it again until now wonder if pipe mfg flaw? thanks for taking the time to make these bro been doing this a long time still learning new tricks.
@jeffvimpeny68856 жыл бұрын
Seen that before. It happened when the txv was changed I don’t think they had the sensing bulb secured properly. Just a little vibration over time creates leaks. Question, I like that you use nitrogen to pressure check, how does your electronic leak detector pick up leaks when only using nitrogen? Refrigerant can be really hard to detect sometimes with a leak detector as it is. BY the way that fieldpiece recovery machine looks really good,

sweet video! I work for an ice machine rental company with over 300 machines. I thought the same thing you did at first, that somebody cranked on it. I have found this same dent from q models up till the current I series. I have taken new I series out of the box and had it dented there. I have changed them out like you did. I have tried to replicate this is on a vise and I can never get the indentation the same. my current stance is Manitowoc was experimenting with it. Let me know what you guys think. it has baffled me for awhile now.

Hey Dave, Have you tried the Testo 605i temperature probes? I was just thinking that they would work well for your work...just turn it on and put it in the box. No wires, to tangles, no hassles. I bought two 605i and two 510i probes. Works great for capacity testing when access doors are accessible, but drilling holes for probes isn't an option.

I have them from Manitowac and Hoshizaki that I picked up at seminars. When I called Scotsman for some advice, I asked for them and they sent them to me for free. It benefits them if you have those as a tool. You will discourage customers from buying equipment that does not have support and info available to you.
