This video has saved me multiple times to repair icemaker. Just replaced motor assembly last time for maybe $15 from amazon. Great work!

Well done. I used a 1/4 inch nut driver and didn't have to remove the top shelf. It took me longer to watch your vid than it did to pull the icemaker. Thanks
@nickgarcia72818 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. One suggestion before you start the removal of the ice maker is to tape the flapper, that is on the left, back flat against the freezer wall. This will preclude you from inadvertantly popping it off when you are working to remove/install the ice maker. The flapper and it's supporting spring are very fragile and can pop off easily. Also, after finishing your installation, be sure to reset your ice maker (slide switch on the right) by turning it off for ~15 seconds and then turning it back on. This will reset the logic of the send and receive logic boards.

Thank you! Went on vacation and shut off the main water and left the ice maker on. Next week as we used up the ice I noticed it was making any ice but could hear for the ice maker calling for water but receiving no water. Went to you tube and found your video that made sense for my problem and lo and behold it was the problem and the fix...you saved me $100. Thanks again.....geo

For my whirlpool fridge ice maker removal: 1/4" is the size of the nut head of the first screw removed in the video. Front door flap removal is carefully bending plastic hinge, not a separate tab. When pulling ice maker out there are plastic pins on both sides to push up. Disconnecting wire connection was most difficult part of my ice maker removal. Thanks very much for posting this video, I had no idea how to get my whirlpool ice maker out.

Thank you very much for your video. You taught me how to take apart the ice maker and I found that the filler hose was frozen so I thawed it out and it's working great.

great video. It helped me replace my kenmore icemaker. I didn't know for certain if I needed new electronic sensors or a new icemaker, but luckily guessed right on the icemaker. For 6 months or so, I would hear it sort of making nonstop grinding sounds, and I'd open the freezer and see like one cube popping up and blocking it from working right. I'd break it with my hand and then it would start working properly again. Then eventually it just made grinding sound and stopped putting out cubes. Something about the freezing+heating element wasn't working right, and it would get blocked. But new icemaker seems to be working. Original icemaker lasted just shy of 12 years.

Adam, Many thanks. Found the ice maker was frozen up jabout 2 hours before a party. Couldn't get access tp the ice dam. Heat Gun was not effective. Found your video, removed the icemaker. Two minutes under hot running water and problem solved. Good video, just the thing that I needed.

Thank you for the tutorial. I opened up the side panel to find the disc broken from the arm. Ordered a new ice maker and luckily it's in stock locally so I'll be picking it up tomorrow. I first checked the water line to make sure it wasn't frozen and then followed your video. You're amazing!

Thanks a lot for the video!!! After watching it, I thought, "Even I can do that," and ordered a new icemaker ($71.50) from Amazon and just installed it myself (had to re-use the old bracket). The first cubes hit the bottom of the door bin a few minutes ago. A repairman would have cost over $200. I wish I had this much luck with my other DIY projects :-) Also, my dogs thank you - their "treat machine" is back in business.

AdamDIY Thank you so much. Watched another dude who simply reached in and pulled the ice maker out. Had to watch it several time to determine there was a release on the left side. Right side would not budge. Thanks to your vlog in 15 seconds I had the answer. Some people just don't know how to present a teaching vlog. Leave no step unmentioned or what's the purpose. I will unfollow the other guy for sure. You get an ATTABOY from me.

FYI. You do not need to remove the two screws holding the "flapper" door, as it has enough wiggle room to get it lose from side to side, leaving the mount behind. On mine, since the water supply tube, that part of the bin also gets a clog and freezes, I also leave the back right ice maker mounting screw out, since it too is not really needed understanding that the icemaker is still held in place by the plastic latch

Thanks! Before I remove it though....my light is no longer on that shows the ice maker is on. Do you know why that would be? Here's what happened. I put a package on top of the ice in the bucket. Forgot to move it. When the ice was being ejected I could hear it wasn't going where it was suppose to. I found that frozen ice had been backing up behind the ice maker. I reached in and took all of the ice out. While I was at it I removed the bucket and thawed out the built up ice in there. Started fresh. When I put the bucket back in the ice maker dumped out some ice one time, but then it stopped. Now the light isn't on either and it's not working. Well, I took it out and let the ice melt. Looked iced over. Checked inside housing and looked like new. Put back in but still not working and still no light on the on/off panel. Ideas?
