Me: This looks so easy! Me on the ice: *Visible sweating.* (You’re so talented! Thank you for giving me tips to improve my skating- where I live, there isn’t lessons for figure skating, so this is the best alternative!)

RIGHT? You think "OK, sure" and then you're on ice, wondering where your hands and feet are going. Inside edge? Outside edge? What was it again? 😂

Kat My legs are always bruised severely from each time. Last time I had to be dragged off the ice because I couldn’t walk, but five minutes later, I was back on the ice and trying again. XD I get so scared that I think “I’ll stick to swivels”. And then I’m like, “HEY, NO!” And then my legs die. XD

@@soybean1610 Please have some patience with yourself! 🙏 Little falls can cause quit serious damage on ice. Don't forget they also endanger fellow skaters physically and emotionally (if something worse was to happen). And I highly recommend cushioned shorts/leggings 😂. There are also sofz guards for knee and elbows. And: are you trying your boots properly? 🤔 A bad fit and weak ankle support as well as dull blades are the most causes that send our beginners flying. I could get my butt around a curve until that day I got good blades and couldn't believe everything was THIS much easier. Quite a shock, honestly.

Thanks, very clear explanation as always! Just one suggestion guys: after each move it really helps if you repeat the move in slow motion, specially for spins and jumps that can't really be done slowly for demonstration. I always reduce the video's speed to grasp full details of each move but I thought it might help better if you just add that into your editing. Will be trying this on Monday!

Wow,it looks so easy when you do it! Do you use toe pick while you are spinning? Or you are in the middle of your blade all the time during spin? I always feel like I am falling backwards when I let my toe pick go😳
@IceCoachOnline5 жыл бұрын
You should absolutely try to avoid catching your toe pick while in the spin, it will only slow you down. You want to try to spin on the 'ball' of the blade, so there will be the least amount of friction slowing you down. The only time you want to use the toe pick is on the entrance of the spin, to change any forward momentum you have, stopping that using the toe pick and turning it into rotational momentum. In the worst case scenario, it is better to be a little more forward on your blade (where you might catch the toe pick) than the back of the blade (which will lead to no spin as there is a high chance of you falling over)

I’m working on single axel and double jumps do you have any tips for plyometric exercises to help my height or something to help me rotate more (exercises on or off ice)and to keep everything consistent ?

Hi guys! Do you recommend a spinner accessorize for training at home? It feels like I understand the technics and do the entry right but i'm struggling to make more than 3 full turns on my right leg practicing more than a year this spin 😫
@IceCoachOnline4 жыл бұрын
I think the spinner is a great tool. It will give you the feeling of rotational momentum which, as it is an alien feeling to mostly everyone, can only be helpful in getting comfortable with! Just make sure to use it safely and follow the instructions carefully.

@@IceCoachOnline an alien feeling 😬 thank you! So far was using a tool for climbers (kindda circle with a half-sphere underneath) but will try a spinner too

Hi guys! Do you recommend a spinner accessorize for training at home? It feels like I'm ok with technics buy i'm struggling to make more than 3 turns , practicing more than a year this spin 😫

I did not find the spinners helpful because the rocker on spinners is on the arch of your foot and the rocker is on the ball of your foot on your skate. It can help for getting the feeling of spinning but it is definitely not the same. I just keep practicing spins on ice eventually they get better.
@IceCoachOnline4 жыл бұрын
Have you checked out some of our more recent videos covering the spinner? I think they are a fantastic tool to use to help this off the ice! I also put up some spinner exercises on the ice coach online instagram @icecoachonline
@maryannezupancic1924 жыл бұрын
@@IceCoachOnline Yes I loved your videos. Without having ice to practice on, the spinner is great for working on forward and backward 3 turns as you can focus on the change of edge, body and arm positioning. Also helpful for preparing to learn my camel and sit spins!
@IceCoachOnline4 жыл бұрын
@@maryannezupancic192 I think the spinner is a very underrated tool for working on turns such as the 3 turn. I have seen people improve their turns a lot using a spinner. Maybe they should rethink the marketing of it 🤔 p.s I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the videos

Absolutely - you can't wrap doing a backspin...(well, I suppose you can try, but it wouldn't end well......)

My to do list for tomorrow is bursting already 😂. I've really been wondering about the pick in spins. Am I supposed to use it (for particular spins?). I often hear "scratch spin" here "scratch spin" there. Could you explain the differences and when to use and when not, or if at all, please?
@IceCoachOnline5 жыл бұрын
The only time you should ideally be using your pick is on the entrance of the spin to stop any forward momentum and turn it into rotational momentum, on the spot. When spinning, you should be just behind the toe pick, on the 'ball' of the blade, if you catch your toe pick in the spin, you will unnecessarily lose speed so try to stay away from it while in the spin!
@KxNOxUTA5 жыл бұрын
@@IceCoachOnline OK, then I'm doing it right. So what're "scratch spins" then? How are they different from normal spins? 🤯
@IceCoachOnline5 жыл бұрын
@@KxNOxUTA a scratch spin is a variation on an upright spin where you end up with your feet crossed and arms pulled in tight or raised above your head. If done correctly, it creates the fastest spin out of all of them! Not too sure why it's called a scratch spin, as there should be no scratching with the toe pick if you want to achieve the fastest spin!
@KxNOxUTA5 жыл бұрын
@@IceCoachOnline oh, I see! I've seen that one! Maybe Mr. or Mrs. Scratch invented it. Or maye it's about scratching on Heaven's door, because the speed is sickening 😂

@@KxNOxUTA Haha! I don't know but I definitely like those explanations!
