First ride on a new trike is such a buzz especially if its a fabulous Ice Trike. Thanks for sharing.

Had a test ride on an ICE Sprint X a week ago with no suspension , mesh seat. Afterwards ordered a Sprint X 26 RS Tour. The test was carried out on aweful roads with poor surface, potholes, speed bumps etc. Was amazed how well it soaked up the bumps compared to my steel Kona Sutra Tourer and Ribble Titanium Endurance bikes both with Elastomer seatpost suspension. It has barend shifters and Shimano Deore gears like the Kona Sutra but operation is the reverse which caught me out on a steep hill shifting up instead of down , getting temporarily stuck, gears grinding as I forced it into the correct gear.

Way to go ! Welcome to the triking world. Your experience is normal and you are moving at a good clip. Love your video and look forward to more.

I'm in the process of buying a trike, basically for getting fit, as I've got a bad back, I'll have to get used to the traffic, rather than just cycle paths, it looks great, all the best.

LOOK at ways to make your trikes profile bigger wider and more visible , using lights flags reflecters , or any bags to widen the trike from behind with added reflecters and lights ...lol

Nice camera work. Scary for me because I'm an American and we ride in the right hand lane. Everything you are doing is the opposite of what I would be doing. Put two flag poles up with spiral kite tails on each. No such thing as redundancy when it comes to safety. We had a recent tragic death of a recumbent trike rider, (James Dobson), in Mississippi who had started in Maine and was to finish in San Diego. He was hit from behind in a lane that I think didn't have a bicycle lane like some of the lanes you are riding on. It is my understanding there were four cars in tight succession. The first car swerved and continued on, but the second car in the series did not swerve and ran over the rider from behind. He is alleged to have died almost instantly. He was doing the ride to raise money for a children's cancer fund. Since traffic is rapidly coming up from behind you, it is imperative they visually identify you at the soonest possible moment.

Cecil Treadwell thanks for the comment. So sad to hear that terrible news .

Yeah spot on mate because you are lower you need massive recognition that u r there. To be honest that does put me off a bit going on the roads even on my conventional road bike. Sad about your friend bud.

Well done for raising safety issues ! My friend dosent want me to get one , but i am already looking at how to create a more visible trike with lights flags reflecters etc, also a LOUD HORN ! of some discription , heehee ..lol.

Do you know of any recumbents that have feet and hand pedals? I'm disabled and have various bones shaved down or removed so I can use pedals for ten minutes at a time and hand pedals for 5/10 minutes but I need something that can do both so that I can return to cycling again. I used to be an amateur road racer in the early 80's but due to surgery I never got back to it

Have you considered trying a pedal assist trike?
@machoneboard5 жыл бұрын
I am thinking about getting a trike so thanks for the video but with the traffic on an already badly served bike route that looked utterly miserable! Think I would have rather gone to the gymn!

Did about 2000 mile on a mobility scooter trike on the road when I was unable to walk. Quite safe as people give you plenty of room.
@James-xr7pb4 жыл бұрын
Nice to take up more space in a lane to force drivers to overtake 'correctly'.
@nigelnightmare41605 жыл бұрын
You do fid that you have to change gears more often than on a DF bike, Partly because the TRIKE weighs about twice as much as the average road bike. I also find other road users give more space.
@Alphard_adventures5 жыл бұрын
Nigelnightmare yes for sure
@DemiGod.. Жыл бұрын
My endurance road bike weights 20lbs, the touring bike 30lbs, a trike about 40lbs. It is easier to stay in the correct gear with the enduirance, whether that is becasue it has 12 gears compared to 10 or because it is more agile or has closer gear ratios, I do not know.

You are riding really fast down that narrow two way street with cars parked on both sides. Nerve wracking to me.

Not as narrow as it looks on camera.

A disadvantage of trikes is you can't jump red lights. You can only roll through.

Not something I am looking forward to, the roads swarming with cyclists like in London, totally ignoring the highway code, jumping red lights, passsing you on the left and right.....

wait till you get the abuse from pedestrians and car drivers
@DemiGod.. Жыл бұрын
After a few thousand miles on the road on a mobility sccoter trike , only had abuse once. Car drivers and pedestrains will stop to ask you about it.
