I would personally just spend that tiny extra for an actual 5700XT. @83RhalataShera Жыл бұрын
@@AlexHusTech "Just use more power tools", my point is that you aren't guaranteed that the silicon you buy can handle it consistently, it's basically like telling people "Yeah X GPU has this performance, but I have managed to overclock the one that I have with these settings and now it is 15% faster so you guys should just do that instead of spending like 30 extra euros and get that performance guaranteed, with a cooler that was meant for it (even tho some coolers in the 5000 series were awful even for the gpu they were built for) and a chip that passed quality control for that level of clocks/power/etc..". Sorry, I don't care that even 80% of the cards "can do it" AMD disabled the 4 CUs and turned down the clocks on the Navi 10 chip for a reason, chances are that a lot of people who would buy the 5700 under the impression that they are just going to magically flash a bios or unlock limits with more power tools and get "free performance" would get severely disappointed when their GPU would suddenly be really hot and loud because the cooler was never built for it or their card was just crashing in games because surprise surprise that Navi 10 chip didn't pass QC for a 5700XT. I think it's fine if you are a tinkerer but I would never feel good about recommending it to a friend who wants a good and reliable second hand value GPU, that's why I don't like people just recommending budget buyers something that might or might not work as they expect and might even result in a dead GPU they spent their money on.

Tbh, at this price point and generation ray tracing does not matter. For the 2060 ray tracing is garbage for the most part, the card doesn't have the horsepower to really trace those rays. DLSS is a nice QoL and, for the most part, better than FSR. And, Ironically is the FSR availability what makes a 2060 appealing, since you can choose either upscaling technology available of the game. Personally, if I had to cjoose I would go with the 5700 XT, even if the card consumes more power. Because of its performance it will be able to play new releases st least four to five years from now, even with the 8VRAM buffer. Unless you find a pretty amazing deal on an Nvidia card, go for the AMD. Sure, Nvidia has a lot of the pretty bells and whistles but AMD bests the crap of out it on price/performance and the Adrenaline software is so good. I've used AMD cards since my first custom PC snd I don't regret it any bit. The RTX series has been tempting, but when I see their horrendous price, yeah, no thanks, it's not worth it.

Mining is not an issue if the miner wasn't a dumbass honestly (which can hard to find out as a buyer to be fair). When I still had my 5700XT in my gaming PC back during the mining craze I was doing some minor testing with crypto mining since the 5700XT was good at it and most guides by knowledgeable miners always recommended heavily undervolting the GPU core which resulted in much lower temperatures than while gaming at stock settings. Couple that with blowing the dust off the card regularly and there really isn't a problem with ex-mining cards. Especially since during mining the GPU stays roughly at same temperature all the time, while the temperatures in a typical gaming workload are more up and down, which is actually worse for the health of a chip (even tho it is still fine imo, GPUs are not princesses, they don't break/degrate as easily as many people seem to believe). I ended up trading my 5700XT for a 6700XT with a miner (since the 6700XT has a smaller memory bus it is worse at mining but better at gaming so they had around the same market value) and it was in perfect condition and still runs great with good temps 2 years later. Yes, an anecdote but I really think that if the miner isn't a pig then it shouldn't be a problem

Lol, I've been using a 2060S for 3 1/2 years and I still don't need a faster card. The 2060 launched at the same price as the 1060 (so cheaper in real terms) and was a little over 50% stronger so with upscaling coming on line it's little wonder it's still holding up well.

@@EBMproductions1 Yup, absolutely mate. Still plenty of life in them. I might have to go from ultra to high settings, or turn down something else that makes no difference to my eyes anyway. 😁

@@EBMproductions1 Also I like tinkering with the Tensor core witchcraftery. Try combining DLSS with DLDSR, I run Shadow or the Tomb Raider with the DLDSR resolution of 1440P(it generates an equivalent of 4K then downscales it to 1080P) and DLSS at Balanced, this means the Tensor cores are simultaneously upscaling from 540P to 1080P and downscaling from upscaled 4K image to 1080P, witchcraft, to create a sharper image than DLSS quality, just set the DLDSR sharpness slider from 50-60% and the process even improves texture resolution to the point it adds detail not there even in a native 4K image. Nvidia need to be careful not to get burned at the stake.

It´s actually quite nice to see that those modern titles run pretty well without sacrificing all settings on 3-4 years old cards that can be purchased on a small budget. Looks you even have headroom left for single player games and a 60+ fps experience. (if you stay below 1440p that is)

5700 XT was the competitor at the time to the 2060 on price. In the secondhand market where I live they are still similarly priced.
@dex6316 Жыл бұрын
The 5700XT was never the 2060’s competitor. It competed with the 2060 Super on price. The 5700 was closer to the 2060’s price, but that launch saw the 2060 dip below MSRP. It even dropped to 300 to compete with the 5600XT on price. At the time it was faster by a decent margin. Edit: I’m talking about US pricing. Your point may be correct in a market that I’m not familiar with.

The RX 5700 XT was a direct competitor to the RTX 2060. They were around the same MSRP. The 5600XT was priced what the GTX 1660 Super cost. The 2060 Super came out to take the advantage back from the RX 5700 XT

I wonder, but how much value would there be paying double for something like a 3060 TI or even a 3070? Here in Ontario Canada a 2060 or 5700 XT would be like $150-180+ CAD while a 3060 TI/3070 could be had for $300ish CAD

Also if you revisit these 3 cards in the video, I'd reccomended looking at the benchmark program for Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail that got both the RTX 2060 & RX 5600 XT as the reccomended specs for GPU.

Useful video, thank you! A few days ago I bought a used rx 5600 xt for £80. Together with Ryzen 1800x, they make a pretty good pair ;). I am very pleased. In the second computer I have an rx 6600 xt (bought a month ago for £150) paired with a ryzen 2600 and it's very nice too! By the way, I sold the RX 5700 XT in October 2021 for £730 ;). Graphics card prices are a real rollercoaster!

Feels weird to think that a 5700xt is considered low end. I bought mine when they were first released for 400ish Dollars, right before the shortage (they got up near 2k!) when it was considered a mid to high end card. I'm still plenty happy with it at 1440p 75hz refresh rate- I can mostly max out settings on games. I doubt I'll ever spend more on a new GPU than I did for this, unless I win the lottery which I don't play- so ya, not happening! What's even more ironic is that I also have an r9 Fury Nano that is in my backup PC- on ebay I can get 200-250 for it- much slower but it is becoming very rare/hard to find.

Do 5000 series cards support SAM? If they do, did you test with it enabled, every time I see amd lose to nvidia in FH5 I thing abou reBar. My 6700xt went from 90 to 130fps after enabling it.
@olnnn Жыл бұрын
They do but it can be a bit hit and miss depending on the game unlike the 6000 and 7000 series whether it helps or not.
@brzimtrco6142 Жыл бұрын
@olnnn still worth a try if you ask me. Tho I know that FH5 needs a lot of vram, which is probably why 5700xt is a lot faster here than 5600xt. Maybe there is no helping the 5600xt here, it just doesn't have enough vram. Plus SAM usually increases vram allocation and dedication, that might be why in certain games with certain gpus it can reduce performance.
@olnnn Жыл бұрын
@@brzimtrco6142 There are videos of it givin the 5700 XT a significant boost in FH4 at least, and videos of it helping the Vega and RX 580 significantly in FH5. Seems even with 5000 series should be on most of the time and just turned off if really needed.

My friend and I are currently playing Baldur's Gate 3... we have identical PC specs with one big difference, I use a GTX 1660 Super and he uses a RX 5700 XT.... we both play with the exact same settings and have very similar FPS... But he plays in WQHD and I only in Full HD. The RX 5700 XT is an powerhouse... Unfortunately, power is the right keyword, his 500 Watt be quiet! System Power 9 power supply buckled under the RX 5700 XT only after three years and we had to replace it today. My goal is to keep electricity consumption as low as possible, because I pay €0.39 per kWh ... so when I upgrade, I will go for an RTX 4070.

Thanks for another great video. I have a suggestion. Don't know if it's a good one or not. I know FPS is easy to compare. But how about setting a target FPS, say 60 or whatever - depending on the card - and then seeing how good quality graphics you can get? Since I am from the C64 era, anything above 30 FPS has me turning up the quality. Cheers.

Have you tried turning the memory clock on the 2060 up to 8000MHz? I can do this on my 2060S which is set out of the box to 7000MHz, alongside a small core OC of 7% it has significant effects on output, and yes it's stable I ran it like this unbroken for 2 months to test it with zero crashes, I still have the profile saved for if I ever want to play The Last of Us.

Actually 5600XT with the unlocked bios flashed and overclocked to 2100MHz has like RTX2060 Super performance. I bought one like half year ago for 100 Eur and it was the best bang for the buck at the time. Cyberpunk at 1080p and ultra settings with Ryzen 5600 run at 59fps and 69 using FSR 2.1 I sold it for 120 Eur recently and I wanted to upgrade to 5700xt for 150eur which is the best performance for the money you can buy now. I managed to get 6700xt for 225eur used msi mech 2 so I pulled the trigger on that. It overclocks very good as well :)

Nice and fast video, I'm gonna assume that's because your schedule was tight to have these scheduled to go up on your vacation. I like the 2060 but I feel it and other 20 cards are holding onto price too well because of DLSS. Though it is an attractive point for these cards. The 5600xt isn't too shabby either but I find 6gb of VRAM is becoming limiting. Still at $120~ it's pretty good. Hope you're having a good vacation iceberg!
