I don't understand. Is the film being done by the trapped ship or someone else? What is the ice crusher doing? Going in circles around the trapped ship? What is the name of the trapped ship? I tried to Google but no luck.

Yes, the video was being done by the trapped ship. The coast guard ice breaker, breaks up the ice around the ship, then creates a path, for the trapped ship to follow it out, while he breaks a path.

Yes, the ship was trapped in ice, the icebreaker must make circles around the trapped ship to brake the ice and free her, then the icebreaker goes ahead to make way, a channel, for the vessel to follow: this is called convoy navigation. With the icebreaker in the leading position it can happen that the ice clump back and the vessel or vessels stop and the icebreaker must turn back, do circles again, free the vessels and go again ahead to make way for the convoy. I hope the my explanation helped. Thanks for watching. Free Ukraine! Victory for Ukraine!

Depends of the icebreaker how powerful it is. This one for example it cannot go into Arctic areas, there, only nuclear powered icebreaker can go, the most powerful ones, the big ones.

Foreign flagged ships should be paying a fee for ice breaking services in Canadian waters ..

Foreign ships calling Canadian ports are adding plus value to the Canadian economy. Icebreaker service is a service of national interest, and national security. Mariners trapped in ice are fighting for their lives, they are in distress. Do you pay any fee calling 911 in case you need assistance?

In Finland hardly any ship would notice that there's such frost on water...

In Canada any ship that was designed for ice wouldn't either. This is a ship that was designed to operate in the Suez canal

It is not the thin new ice around the ship that is a problem it's the thick older ice in front that is the problem
