Unlike a lot of top tier characters Greninja has a fairly high skill ceiling and is decently difficult to pick up and do well with so it’s not entirely surprising (His stats are just kinda awkward)

he is pretty hard to play and has bad oos option it's not entirely stupid for people not to play him

He is light, struggles to kill if you don’t find confirms (even dtilt combos don’t work well if they di out at certain %s so the window is pretty tight), bad out of shield, and slow aerials outside of bair (nair is 12 fair 16), combos are very tight (dash attack fair is only true at certain % and you need to execute very quickly/idj or it won’t work). His up smash doesn’t hit grounded opponents quickly so he can’t do things like run up up smash like many combo chars (joker fox zero suit Mario). None of his non-smash moves really reliably kill outside of fair I feel like there are not many high level greninjas in the west and it definitely is pretty hard to play vs greninja if you aren’t used to the matchup, but he definitely has a lot of weaknesses once you do know it

Greninja is great online even better irl, his sprint animations are just like sheiks so you can get in pretty quick. Also his dodge looks just like his Forward B so you can fake out opponents with it. He is very good if you like fast aerial combat. Has a reliable projectile too
