ICELAND!! Blue Lagoon & Off Road Tour of Iceland + Norwegian Prima's Naming Ceremony

We are in Reykjavik, Iceland for the inaugural cruise of Norwegian Prima! But while here, we want to do some exploring as well! We wake up very early in the morning to hop on a bus at 7:30 AM to Blue Lagoon. This is such a beautiful spot that we just had to see it for ourselves. And we have heard it can get very busy so it's best to go first thing in the morning.
You think that walking outside in a swimsuit when it's 50 degrees outside would be really cold... but as soon as you get into the warm water, all is right in the world! The water is a milky blue color and is so warm. We had to try a mud silica mask... that was so weird! But is really good for your skin!
As soon as we arrived back at port from Blue Lagoon, we immediately jumped into an off-road vehicle for a very interesting ride! We went straight up the side of the mountain. It was CRAZY!! This excursion took us to three different spots around Iceland with beautiful overlooks and one where we could even walk on the lava fields!
When back on the ship, we were in for a special night! This was the naming ceremony for the new NCL Prima. We heard from NCL and met the ship's godmother, Katy Perry. Dadi, a local Icelandic superstar, performed for us and then Katy Perry herself put on one heck of a show!

We enjoyed this video very much as we spent 10 days there for our honeymoon! I noticed Jason said 'wild' sheep. They aren't wild! They actually belong to farmers. It's custom to let them roam free and then they are all gathered once a year! It's a big few days that's customary to the Icelandic culture where they go and herd all the sheep back to their farmer. They get sheered and mated and they stay with the farmer until the babies are old enough to take off and then they set them free again!

When my niece and her family were there this summer her little 2-year-old cried because she did not want to get out. Of course they live in Traverse City so used to very cold cold water so this was definitely a treat!

I wore water shoes both in the Icelandic hot springs and in the Dead Sea!!! We loved both of these natural spas!!! I didn’t know that they had an an hotel as we stay in Guest houses when in Iceland!!! We loved exploring the volcanoes in Iceland!!!

We just got back from Iceland last week! Visited the blue lagoon and rented a 4x4 camper so we could go on some of the mountain roads. There is nothing like it. Can’t wait to return. Have fun!

I was stationed in Keflavik from 1991-1994 while in the Navy. Went to the lagoon a few times. They have improved it since I was there. We did a trans atlantic a few years back that stoped in Reykjavik with an overnight. Didn’t get to go back to the lagoon but did the golden circle tour. Love the lamb dogs !!

I've been to Japan twice and am in love with the concept of bathing. I would do that in a heartbeat. Also. Fun Fact: 1974. Convention Hall, Asbury Park New Jersey. I was there to see "Three Dog Night" in concert. Some band called "Rufus" with someone named "Chaka khan" was the opening act. It did not go well for them. If I knew then what I know now... Yes, they played "Tell me Something Good"

We went 5-7pm at blue lagoon and it was packed!! Sean also sampled a few more drinks than 1 - he had a great time! 😂 it was raining when we went so the coolness of the rain was amazing with the heat of the lagoon! Loved it - would definitely do it again
