Starting to edit my trip. You had a pretty good view at vestrahorn, we had super foggy rain. Yes very sketch. We had some very scary moments in the north. We turned around going to the town through the mountains in the eastFjord. Seydisfroder we not worth the risk of the snowy mountains. Next time. Great video at least we can watch it here.we went to hengifoss and it was snowing and Also very hard hike. Lol

Keep up the great videos. They are bringing back to many memories of our trip around Iceland back in 2015. Lots of "been there" and oohh "been there" but my favourite was when we went to the same peninsula at Stokksnes to see the lighthouse. The lady that sold us the ticket and said "remember to look at the wiking willage" . We nearly cried laughing. We are looking forward to Part 4.

@@TheAwkwardTourists Ah just watched part 4. We have not done the east and north of Iceland yet. We plan to go back in 2022 and do the north side and go whale watching. However, I see you teased us with the western fjords for part 5. I get the shivers thinking about that side of Iceland. That is where I had my heart attack on the penultimate day. For real. !!!

@@TheAwkwardTourists I am binge-watching all over again as I make my itinerary for August. I am a bit of a "lighthouse nut," and know I won't be able to resist the temptation to detour. Do you happen to recall the name of the one that was on private property, so I can save the trip to that one? Thanks again for such a helpful series!

Always nice to see your videos :) You got quite unlucky with the weather, normally it doesn't snow in June (it can happen but usually not), even if it's Iceland :) Vinbudin literally means "The Wine Store" - Icelanders are really strict with their alcohol and you can not buy alcohol anywhere else except in these government-run stores (maybe a few light beers in stores but that's it). The beer Einstök is a really good one, (Einstök means Unique and the spelling suggests that it's a female. If it was male it would be called Einstakur. Icelandic is weird :) ) Have fun on the Northern side of Iceland, that's actually where I'm from :) (a place called Skagafjordur).

Too bad about the weather but of course in Iceland you can expect anything as you mentioned. My father and his family are from the next fjord south of Seyðisfjörður called Mjóifjörður. Only about 20 people live there year-round and the road is closed about half the year. There is a boat that comes twice a week with supplies during that time.

@@TheAwkwardTourists I do visit most years. My uncle still has a farm there, a beautiful place. It is only about 45 minutes driving from Egilstadir in the summer but some scary gravel roads. Another interesting fact is that around 1900 the population was close to 400 people when the Norwegians had set up two whaling stations there. Most of the farms were then abandoned in the years 1950-1970, only two left.

Thanks so much for the support. Iceland is completely worth it. We were fine with the cold, but being from Southern California, we aren't used to it as much. Are there any roadside rest stops along the longer stretches of highway between towns where you can go to the bathroom if you suddenly need to? If there are no rest stops, where can you go if it's an emergency? There are no trees you can go behind. Just go by the side the road and hope that nobody else comes along?
@TheAwkwardTourists
@TheAwkwardTourists 3 жыл бұрын
Every "major" attraction will have toilets available, and there is a gas station in every town that you can use the restroom. We have heard that there are public swimming pools in almost every town (no matter how small) and they will have restrooms too. We didn't have issues finding a place on the ring road. The highlands might be a different story though
@WesternPAdude
@WesternPAdude 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheAwkwardTourists Another thing that takes a little getting used to is the fact that most of the time the roads have no shoulders. In the U.S. you can pull over pretty much anywhere if you get a flat tire, or if you just have to pee. Or for whatever reason. Just if you feel like it or whatever. No pulling off to the side of the road just anywhere in Iceland!

Every town, no matter how small will have a gas station with bathrooms, also the tourist attractions/ main trailheads will have bathroom facilities. You're not supposed to go outside, but in a pinch, you can duck behind a bush for #1. As for prices, campgrounds are definitely cheaper, but you have to pay per person so just keep that in mind
