This video is the second release from a month-long international filming and research trip I took last summer. It's a project that's been over a year in the making. My brother and I drove 1200 miles around the entirety of the island, spending ten days meeting locals and exploring the city of Reykjavík as well as the beautiful villages and spectacular wilderness areas that make Iceland the country it is. Myself and my brother, Quinn the Cameraman - / @quinnthecameraman - have been working on a number of films about our trip and the countries we visited. Quinn made a great video documenting our travels across the island - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoS9op-Pe8mkes0. Many, though not all, of the photos of included were taken by us on location. Thanks for taking the time to enjoy our work and learn about this incredible little corner of the world. -Carter and Quinn

I am so used to people mispronouncing Icelandic in hilariously spectacular ways that when I heard your attempts at pronouncing the words (which are great by the way) at the beginning of the video, they put me off a tad. What an odd thing, finding accurate pronunciations offputting. Great work, as always!

Outstanding work! I am beginning college this fall for History/Journalism. In-depth, documentary-based works like these are a great inspiration for me. Iceland is an extremely fascinating country, and it’s often overlooked as just a minor Nordic nation. I liked that you mentioned the nation’s (partial) Celtic roots, as it reminds us that its history is much more complex than we might initially think. I am genuinely looking forward to new additions to this series, as well as the US explained. (Take your time!)

Great stuff Carter. I'm 25, been road tripping North America since I was 19; planning to have all 50 states visited by next year. After that I'll be graduating to World Traveler, and Iceland is easily #1 on the list. I've had the trip planned out and ready to go for a couple years, but this video will definitely help me refine my itinerary. Can't wait. Þetta Reddast! ("all will be well")

My wife and I spent a while there travelling the island. At one point we were talking to a teen at a roadside diner/inn and he was telling us how cold it gets in winter and how its hot in summer. We both thought it was funny because Minnesota passes Iceland's hot and cold records, literally every year.

I hope you finish the Washington State video soon! It's my home state and coming up soon on the list. It's a powerhouse of productivity and home base to industry giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Costco, Expedia, Alaska Airlines and Starbucks! Also packs well above its size in natural wonders and resources, partially leading to it's large role in data warehouses and the physical 'internet' side of things that require large amounts of energy. Mind you, this energy is mostly green and harvested from a combo of hydropower, wind, and nuclear power. The state even has a surplus of energy and exports it to California, Oregon and Idaho!! Fascinating how a state's energy policy plays a role in shaping the state's economy and industry. Washington also has the only state flag with a former president on it as well as the only state flag with a green background! This is just the start . . .

so in iceland, the towns around reykjavík aren't considered suburbs since they govern themselves, so calling my hometown vestmannaeyjarbær the 5th largest town is a bit misleading since its actually number 13 when ranked by population
