This is part five of six about living and exploring Iceland in a camper-van for two weeks. The weather sucked a bit but we still got great views of some of the country's most popular landmarks. We also got to check out the hot spring river while it was snowing, which was absolutely amazing.
If you don’t know, Iceland is a little island nation in the Atlantic Ocean. It only has a population of about 330,000 people.
2/3 of which live in the capital city so the rest of the country is pretty rural.
There is a road (route 1) that circles the entire country and hits most of the big attractions making exploring super easy by car. Hotels are sprinkled around the island, but can be spread pretty far apart and just like everything else, they are super expensive. Since you need a car to explore this place properly anyway combining it with a hotel room in the form of a cheap camper van is by far the best way to explore this rural little island country on a budget .
My girlfriend and I live in an Rv full time anyway so the idea of traveling around a foreign country in a camper van didn’t seem like Much of a stretch for us, but for those of you new to the idea, this should show you what it’s like and how amazing this little country is!
