A few years ago I decided to start continental knitting and after I saw a Norwegian knitting show, I watched a few videos and this is how I do it now. so much easier than the english way and my tension is good now

@@Dixiered03 but the purl is different than the continental purl. It’s similar to the Norwegian purl.

I received a ball of wool from Iceland as a gift but it keeps breaking. Is there a special way to use this wool?

Lopi (the traditional Icelandic yarn) unlike almost all other yarns is that it isn't spun. The fact that it isn't spun allows it to trap more air and be especially insulating, but it also means that it's more fragile. The upside is that because it's unspun, it's super easy to join the yarn back together with a little spit and rolling it between your hands, and you won't see the difference. If you have plötulopi (single stranded, comes in a cake), I recommend knitting with two strands at a time; that's what people do the majority of the time (léttlopi comes in skeins and is essentially 2 strands of plötulopi that have been twisted slightly together, but not spun). If you want a thinner yarn, you can try coupling it with a sturdier lace yarn in a similar color to give it extra strength. The end result of your knitting will be sturdy; it's just a matter of handling the yarn carefully as you knit (and a whole lot of spit joining while you're getting the hang of it).
