The folks who found him thought that they were working on someone who had passed away during the first world War, or someone who had been hiking recently through that area. They were completely uneducated in paleoarcheology or archeology. They meant well.

Yeah, it was pretty appalling, 1991, a while ago, but they still should have known to use gloves, and proper protective bags, etc when they went to retrieve Otzi, they must have realized he was not a modern human. Shame, but as you said, at least they found him and brought him back. He has expanded our knowledge of Man and history so much.

Archeologists must have been horrified to see those that discovered him hacking at his remains so carelessly. How can they tell the difference between the assault he suffered after he was found and what happened in his lifetime. Gawd

Having spent some time in Süd Tirol, staying in Nals, hiking in the surrounding areas, we visited Ötzi in Bozen. A remarkable experience, and interesting how much research has gone into discovering who he was since we were there some 20 years ago. LG aus Kärnten.

by the way Ötsi was never found IN a glacier. But because the snow and ice are or better were melting. So the mountains released one more body. Which in the beginning no one thought of it would be THAT what it is now...

It is no surprise to me that OTZI has the most points of contact with Sardinia. I am sure that he carries a significant percentage of the I2a haplogroup (more than 40%), as does Sardinia, but also the peoples of the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia), that is, all the Dinaric peoples. That haplogroup is also called I2a DINARIC. It is the oldest haplogroup in Europe, and it is a feature of AUTOCHRONIC PEOPLE. They have been there for at least 26,500 years, probably more than 35,000 years.

Algorithm automatically flags comments that violate community guidelines. If the channel has certain 'family friendly' filters - given the type of program this is - then certain comments will be automatically flagged based on those filters as well. In short, learn to say what you want to say without being nasty about it. There's a huge difference between you or anyone else expecting good behavior and clean language when people visit your home or business, and an oppressive dictatorship. badfairy's comment is a good example. If all they wrote was "there was more than one Eve" then it would've been ok, just like the comment we're all reading now. There's more to your guys' stories than you care to share....
