Yep. Everything about Caleb is about intentionally hanging onto stuff from his past, causing himself pain in that way, cuz he deserves it. Even frumpkin, who is just made to look like his childhood cat. He has a photographic memory and never wanted to let go of his past

What's really gut-wrenching is that up until that point, Caleb could assume that both of his parents were still alive, waiting for his return, under the assumption that his plan would work. When he disintegrated the research, it was no longer an entertainable theory. He really did kill his parents back then. And now, he killed them again.

I really would love to see someone animate Caleb's planning montage of Saving his parents. Also, everyone has brought up many times how everything Caleb did spell wise was in service to this, his ultimate plan once he figured out time travel, but even his level one feat, Keen Mind ("I don't remember, but Caleb does."-"Hey, Caleb, what Time is it?") Remembering everything with eidetic precision, and always knowing what time it is are great traits for navigating time.

yeah Liam himself mentioned in the campaign recap that every spell he chose had a purpose in his ultimate plan, that’s pretty fantastic attention to detail and is one of the many reasons Liam is my favorite cast member

I just realized that with that feat he doesn't get to forget. like our brains typically protect us from pain by making memories a little softer, a little distant or forgetting entirely. Either eidetic memory, everything always remains fresh. Every time he recalls that moment, every sensation is the same. It is as if it is happening right then. Can't change it, or imagine it being different, like the majority of brains do.

Liam is the only person that can make me feel for a character to the point where I start crying. It's so powerful and so personal...it's like it really happened to him. Amazing, and I really hope he didn't burn his parents to death as a child as part of a ritualistic forced mentorship in a cult.

If it makes you feel any better, he was enchanted by Ickithon and unaware of it at the time. On top of being abused, groomed, and gaslighted by Ickithon to kill them as a show of "loyalty" against traitors. Caleb didn't realize the truth of it until later, when he was in the sanitorium and his actual memories came back and he realized what Ickithon had done to him. And I 100% agree that Liam is amazing. Just so literate and smart, and such a gifted actor.

His story is the most bitter sweet but real of the lot, I hope we get more of his story in the future. It would have been a struggle weighing the potential loss of all the good they had done together and the saving of his parents, at least thats what I would be scared of.

The first part of the video that gave me chills was the simple cut from Caleb looking into the beacon, and then the next clip with Caleb in front of the time machine with Essek. And then the rest of this was just so expertly edited, my god. Pulling on all the heartstrings. I mean, Caleb going back to Nott and Jester joking around with him around the beacon, moments before cutting to Caleb disintegrating all the tech and research... boy... tears. Fantastic work!

Caleb creates a bootstrap paradox...if he uses an illusion of the sound of his parents screams, from the memory of his parents screams, which were an illusion...where did the sound come from?

Mainly asking for fun (so no pressure) -- Is it really paradoxical, though? Since he is creating the illusion from his own mind, and not a recorded source, doesn't it stay non-paradoxical? Since for Caleb time has still moved linearly -- in Caleb's personal timeline, he knows what those screams sounded like, and recreates them here based on that linear timeline of his own experiences? Just my take on it. (Also, this absolutely destroys me, and I was just thinking of how he has had to hold onto the memory of those screams all these years... the whole thing is just so heartwrenching...)

After his parents death, he became an echo of his former self. Then having to live with what he has done, became a darker and insane version, then after joining the Mighty Nein he found himself again. Beautiful

I wrote that first comment 1/2 way through this clip. I just want to add after finishing the full clip that I loved how you led to that last clip. I've been wanting to go back to rewatch this moment. It's such a complex storyline to end, but what Caleb did, and how Liam delivered were masterful. On some levels this was my favorite moment of C2. Your clip was the best way to rewatch it. Thanks.
