청소년기에 봤던 영화입니다. 35년이 흘렀는데도 잊히지가 않아서 한번씩 찾아보는데 덕분에 잠시 추억에 젖다갑니다. 감사합니다.^^

I loved this film. Some called it "camp" whatever that is. To me the music, the photography, and the story of how an artist must renounce a part of the world, including often loving relationships, and accept being alone, as in the beautiful song, " I am Lost to the World," meant something very deeply.
@wickiebowman110 жыл бұрын
I have watched Le Maitre de musicque so may times. It is a hokey plot, but the music is glorious. I wasn't really aware of Jose Van Dam until this tim, and he quickly became my favorite baritone. Such and elegant man and artist. What a great voice. Ich bin der welt is absolutely heavenly.
@berndschlothauer14736 жыл бұрын
Well, you' re a great admirer of Jos van Dam. I hardly knew him until this recording. He's an excellent baritone. Shortly before that, l heard the same Mahler song in a interpretation by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and was deeply touched. By the way, a recording of the Vienna Philharmonic under Bruno Walter from the year 1960. Maybe interesting for you.

I'm rather stunned, he was the most beautiful and elegant Leporello in Mozart's Don Giovanni as filmed by Joseph Losey, which triumphed all over the world and you can buy in DVD format! a "must"

A hokey plot it is. I prune out and tolerate to get to the heart of it, as I suspect most do. Van Dam and Mahler!!

Unsurprisingly superb. I have yet to see THE MUSIC TEACHER but on the basis of this recording from the film I certainly concur that Ferrier & Van Dam represent a gold standard for this memorable Mahler Lied. Hardly any other interpretations that I have yet to hear are as emotionally moving as these two.

Such a wonderful artist and intensely beautiful voice. I was in a production of Guillaume Tell with him when this film was released. I remember going with other company membersto watch it at the cinema on the Champs Elysees. Jose Van Dam a great singer, but modesty personified. A delight to listen to this.

For some reason this movie has been unavailable for some time and while it (the movie ) would never make it to the pantheon of great movies it does showcase one of the great singers of the 20th century. His career in this country was limited and the recording industry didn't treat him much better:three Escamillos!!! but he has left a great legacy of exquisite vocalism in both French and German
@Fanfanbalibar4 жыл бұрын
You certainly don't look at the right places to find out his discography and filmography of live opera shows worldwide ! let's say that Fisher-Diskau and next Van Dam are the greatest baritones of the 20th century!

Stephen, I can't believe I missed this video of yours. I felt moved to tears by the combination of the profoundly beautiful and sad imagery, along with the obviously magnificent singing. Thank you for so carefully choosing images from the film to recreate such a moving musical experience.

I remember the line spoken by the music master's companion as the barge moves away into the mist: "Maintenant, je voudrais que tout se passe très vite". It expressed all the pain of her loss. What else is there to say when you face a future without the presence of someone you loved so intensely? This music is so peaceful, so sublime. It eases the pain.

Es en la película 🎥 y su simple narrativa dónde cada pieza musical utilizada adquiere vida a través de los personajes. Por supuesto, las voces de los artistas son de primera línea, pero lo que importa acá es como juegan en el drama que nos ofrece la cinta.
