Finally some respect for all soldiers who died in WWI,they all fought for their countries.

What the fuck are you talking about? Do you seriously think this is the first time anyone has ever shown respect for those who died in WWI? Or is it just the first time that you've come across it and you can't understand that things might exist even if you haven't experienced them?

British and German soldiers and sailors coming together to pay their respects to the fallen from both sides while a pipes & drums band plays "Ich hatt einen kameraden", as a Finn I wish Finland and Russia could come together like this to honor the fallen from OUR wars with each other, but I can't see that happening anytime soon. The most that I can expect is volunteers from both countries going to the old battlefields to look for, recover, identify & bring home the remains of those who died & remain there, the Finnish government keeps funding the efforts to do just that even today, just earlier today I watched a video from a couple months back of a funeral for three Finnish soldiers who fell on the Karelian Isthmus during the Soviet Summer Offensive of 1944, while this important work is carried out, the Finnish war cemeteries on the Russian side of the border keep being vandalized while the graves and memorials of the Soviet fallen in Finland are respected & cared for.

I've visited Langemark several times conducting battle field tours with Army Cadets. I struggled to get over how many were buried in the Kammeraden Grabe. I was walking around looking at the names and ages on gravestones, I noticed one name- Maximilion Glam. Every time I go back, I say hello to Max.

I once did have a comrade, No one better you would find. Then the drum called us to battle, And He had marched there, at my side , (In perfect pace and stride.) 2x A bullet came a-flying, Is it meant for me or you? Then it had torn his, life away, Now he lies here at my feet, As (If it was a part of me.) 2x Yet he reached out his hand to me, As I strive now to reload. "I cannot give you my hand, right now May you rest there, in eternal life ( My good comrade.") 2x

@@mcaddicts At the Tyne Cot cemetery in Belgium almost all of the men buried there are British or from the empire and there is also one Frenchman. However, four Germans are also buried there. They were wounded when the Third Australian Division and the New Zealand Division captured the pillboxes which now make up the base of the memorial and died of their wounds in a field hospital that was set up there. Of the four, three are unknown. The fourth is named however, Landsturmmann Otto Bieber. His date of birth is unknown, but he died on the fourth of October 1917, the day the pillboxes were captured. All in all, almost 17,000 German soldiers from WWI are buried in CWGC graves. There are also almost 6200 German soldiers from WWII buried in British graves, mostly Luftwaffe servicemen shot down in WWII
