School let out at 3pm and all I thought about was rushing home to watch Gomer Pyle. I still recall being pissed off at missing the first fifteen minutes. The great thing about Christmas, Easter and Summer break was being able to watch Gomer from the beginning of each episode. I have no idea how much I learned about how to be a decent person by watching that "silly" tv show.

Gomer Pyle, The Rifleman, Bonanza, Fury, Andy Griffith, Ed Sullivan, Walt Disney, all the programs we grew up with in the 50's and 60's - which ones do *you* remember from the days of black & white television? There will never be another generation of Americans like the ones who learned from these gentle and generous show's scripts the life skills that are required to become a decent human being in American Society.

The snake thing is a bit misleading because constrictors, while not venomous, obviously do have teeth, and can pack a nasty bite. Also, a skunk might think you're big and threatening, even if you don't. Still, they're sweet and surprisingly teachable moments for a sitcom.

This episode has a story to it. The skunk is a child's pet and the cruelty to animals needs to get stopped by the guys . Mr Sutton was charged by Boris Karloff for cruelty.
Actually this episode is correct about skunks. If you make no sudden moves. Speak in a relaxed gentle voice. They'll not spray you. I've fed wild skunks and named one. If I call his name. When I see him, he'll pop his head up and run to me. Remember be gentle snd kind to nature, she'll.do same.. animals can sense your anger and will reply same

@@hannibalburgers477 The U.S. Army and the Marines were severely effected in a negative way by the war in Vietnam, the spit and polish military of the late 50s and early 60s turned into a force with low morale, drug use, disillusionment with the war, "fragging" incidents, corruption at the highest levels, and Generals lying to the American people about the war, it took over a decade after the war for the military to recover from that dark time.
