[Tidbits & Clarifications] - This episode was loaded with new content that wasn’t in the Manga, the most important being the reveal of why Ichigo was so important towards Yhwach’s plans and also learning the Soul Kings name “Adnyeus” - We first saw this name mentioned last season during Yhwach’s chant for the Auschwallen technique. “...eye of agate, tongue of gold, skull cap, coffin of Adnyeus. This object we raise is your heart”. What’s interesting is that fans discovered that the name is likely a reference to “Adonai” a substitute phrase for the name “Yhwh”. This is important because Adonai means “made of god” and “eus” means “made of silver”. (Without spoiling, Silver has an important role to play in regards to Yhwach as the Quincy King so keep this in mind) (Notice that Ryuken was holding small pieces of silver in his palm) - Yhwach says “The more you turn your blade against me, the more you will fall into despair” This is because he can foresee the future, but the symbolic aim of this is to show how Yhwach embodies fate itself, do you raise your blade against what you believe to be set in stone? how can you and should you fight the inevitable? - We still don’t get the whole aim behind Yhwach’s actions but here we get another significant piece. In short, The Balance exists in a way that alienates the Quincy by nature, this Balance was made in a way that seemingly consigned Quincies to extinction. - Many will likely question why Yhwach even deactivates his "Almighty" in the first place. I believe it's because he's trying to get Ichigo to see things his way, plus if anything happens he can activate at any time so it's a non issue in his eyes. - In the mid-screen we learn that the name of the technique the soul king used to separate the worlds and create a cycle of Life and Death is called “Triplet World” - Sidenote: Ichibei just cant be trusted man, lol and don't worry If they keep up with the additions or adapt the light novels you'll learn MUCH MORE about the Soul King's story. All of the soul reapers tbh. Their sole existence is to maintain balance, not really even protect existing souls. Purifying the truly monstrous hollows in hueco mundo would cause just as much of an imbalance as what the quincy do and thus they have no intention of really saving millions of souls from what is essentially purgatory. Spoilers And maybe we’ll get lucky and see some of the post tybw stuff where squad zero has techniques to just seal away the strongest of hollows, trapping what amounts to thousands or millions of souls in what amounts to eternal limbo….

Almost all of this episode was anime only. Honestly, if memory serves correctly, the only manga scenes in this episode was everything related to the Technology Development Bureau and Ichigo cutting the Soul King in half. We had no information on the Soul King, had no idea his name was Adnyeus (there was some speculation a few years ago cause Yhwach uses the name when he's chanting for Auswahlen but it was always just a fan theory). The scene of Ukitake being the one to heal Zaraki after the fight with Gremmy and getting jumped by the Bambis. The scene with Momo being the one to heal Shinji, Soi Fong and Omaeda. The entire fight sequence between Ichigo and Yhwach. This was all anime only and definitely a hint of good things to come in the future. Ichigo may have even more attacks in the anime than just Getsuga Tenshou and Getsuga Jujishou.

There’s nothing really they can do. The soul reapers really have no intention of actually stopping hollows. If a hollow is eating souls it messes with the balance and they deal with it to keep the balance from tipping too much. But the old monsters in hueco Mundo are composed of thousands if not millions of souls and purifying the actual hollows that are threats will lead to just as much of an imbalance. The soul reapers goals arnt peace and prosperity for us normal humans.

If we can trust Yhwach's words that the seal protecting the Soul King can only be destroyed by someone with the power of all races (maybe he just lied to Ichigo to break his will to fight), then perhaps the reason why the Soul King separated the world in such a way that the Quincy are doomed to extinction is to prevent anyone from reversing his work and destructing created balance in the future (if his power of seeing into the future is not infinite). If all Quincy die, the only person with Quincy's power will be the Soul King, and the seal protecting him will be impossible to break by anyone. Additionally, the balance of the three worlds he created will be safe because there will be no one who can erase Hollows.

I checked the manga panel just before stabbing SK, Yhwach said to SK that "perhaps he had already foreseen this day" (implying that he could not forseen his death) and this phrase probably burned in my mind. Spoiler from manga: Knowing how history ends, Yhwach, with all his powers, failed to see fully what brought him to his end and this was less than 1 day to forsee. He failed to discover the betrayal and its consequences for him. Even if Antithesis can blind Almighty, it wouldn't be weird that Yhwach can't see the parts of the future of his successor.
