Back in another lifetime (early 1980's) the Georgia Army National Guard had two aviation companies flying those. During one of our 2-week AT periods yours truly was offered a ride in one of those people pods. I declined, as it was quite noisy and not too different from a "cattle car". (Those that went thru U.S. Army BCT in the past probably rode in a cattle car on several occassions.) By the way the down draft from the main rotor is TREMENDOUS! So it could carry up to 56 very close friends....did not know that!

Talking about downdraft, in my time I was a part of the RAF's acceptance trials for the Chinook. 'We' used to do tactical refuelling 'in the field.' At RAF Uphaven we set up our refuelling gear and the upshot of the testing was to see which refuelling option was going to work the best, open line (like those you see at garages across the country, for your car) or pressure refuelling. As anyone can see with a Chinook, the front is raised in comparrison to the rear. It has six open line refuelling points, three either side. After a short testing period these were ruled out due to access and mainly the flow rate of the fuel into the tanks. Pressure refuelling was the way to go. We had a little fun with the Chinook. The downdraft is approximately 80mph. So, if you have seen Michael Jackson leaning forward in his video Smooth Criminal, imagine this being possible because of the 80mph downdraft. I love this Tarhe too.

What a lump! Just waiting for the 1/35th Chinook, preferably with an RAF HC Mk1 version. And If you can persuade them that we also need a similar vintage RAF Puma HC Mk1, Peter, that would be nice. Then they can get on & make us an RAF Wessex HC Mk2. I'll wait for the word from you before taking out the second mortgage.

That fire finally complete what a night mare it too nearly four week I've should of prime it gloss coat from tamyia green just pull the paint up over the green I used with the small parts like mirrors attach to the spur cutting away from the part attach just broke under pressure super glue Them the decals just broke into tiny little pecice I'm glad that done

Getting one. Hope they make the command centre and medical pods as separate kits in the near future. My favourite helicopter when I was a kid in the 70s. Could never get my hands on the Revell 1/72 kit of it back then. 😊
