My dad was an army combat helicopter pilot/flight instructor during the Korean - Vietnam wars. After he retired, he was a helicopter test pilot for Northrop Grumman. He actually would fly this over our house, which sat on 10 acres at night and turned the spotlight on us as we came pouring out of the house waving and flipping our backdoor floodlight on and off. My mother called him her spy in the sky! Cherished memories return when I hear a chopper overhead!

Have seen a Ch-53 up close like that , and they are basically the same helicopter. Truely flying monsters when you see them up close , the blade force is impressive, Or have to get in one. LOL

パッと見た感じは変だけど、資材運搬用に特化したヘリだから後部座席部分を丸ごと取り払って軽量化している。 高さ数百m超えの鉄塔とかを建てる時、又は道路に面してない僻地等ではクローラークレーンでは無理な為、ヘリで鉄塔の部分を揚げて組み立てる。

However it does not come close to the world record holder which was the two V-12 helicopters that the soviet union made to carry ICBM Nuclear Missiles. Since they still have the record of weight to altitude and range records and were the largest helicopters and most powerful ever built.
