So this is direct conversion receiver as mentioned in the video. I have always heard that direct conversion is inferior compared to superhet receivers due to intermod rejection and bandpass. Is this false? I'm surprised that this is a direct conversion receiver. Does icom now use direct conversion for their commercial transceivers?

This is a replacement for the IC-T70A sadly they reduce the memory from 302 channels to 208 channels. I do not think this could go head to head with the Yaesu FT-65 or FT-4X especially with the price range.

IP-67 makes it better than 65 or the 4x. Same FM and WX capability and a 1/2 watt louder audio, so I think your comment is wrong.

What settings do i change? On UHF i cannot transmit, but the radio receives it. When i press PTT, it shows "OFF". Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you are transmitting out of band.

No, it doesn't...this is primarily an Amateur radio model.

Adjacent channel selectivity: 55 dB (FM, 25 kHz), 50 dB (FM Narrow, 12.5 kHz) - very disappointed indeed, but why do they have to come up with wideband and then have receivers with poor performance? Direct conversion?? but wasn't superheterodyne better?

Chinese technology in a icom. Get 3 waterproof Chinese radios for the price of 1. You let a Chinese made Wouxon Radio out do you.
