Awesome video. I have been looking at the Icon 72" box for a while now. I'm also looking at the US general box. I want the Icon but its hard to justify this box for a non-professional homeowner. But if I go US General, will I have buyers remorse? Oh what to do!!! Either way both boxes are more than I need.

I know that you may use this box in one spot but I’m an aviation mechanic and I was wondering if you think the casters would be good for moving around. I have intermediate snap on box and am looking to get a bigger box do to how many tools I’ve accumulated. Has this box provided sufficient space for all your tools? Also is the stainless top worth the money?

My concern is: Icon hasn't been around very long. Will they hold up in 15 years of heavy use? I see alot of " I should have bought Snap On" videos.

It's a sheet metal box that's fully painted inside and out. The metal is thick, the drawers have extra support on bottom that spans the drawer. Some drawers have two reinforcements on bottom. Many drawers have double slides. The reputation of the company has little to do with the quality of the box. Go to a store and inspect the box inside and out for yourself. Pull a drawer out and check out the frame and internal construction. Feel underneath the drawers. Boxes are simple so its a lot easier to judge quality than judging something complex like a car. This box is good. I've got a Snap-on box and the large icon with ss top, hutch, and two side lockers. The icon is better. The Snap-on drawers have a smoother roll-out which is the only thing I would say is better, but the ICON drawer slides are beefier so that might explain the difference. The snap-on (heritage series) drawers do not have reinforcements like the ICON. Also check the product weights. These boxes are heavy. They aren't filled with sand, so heavy means you are getting the metal you are paying for. A box with half as thick steel all around will look identical but weigh half as much. That alone tells you the quality of this box is 2x the quality of some others (Milwaukee and big box store stuff). So it might look expensive when compared to similar sized boxes of half the weight, but those boxes are half the box. When you judge it against others in the same weight class then it's much cheaper and has the same quality feel as the good stuff like the Mac.

I am fixing to get all new boxes myself. But I think I will just go with US General. I do not see enough of a difference between ICON and US General or MAC. Except tremendous cost difference. Mine will be used every day and the couple US General I already have had held up for 5 years now. 3K for US General. 6K for ICON. around 20K for Snap-On. I am also looking into Husky and Craftsman too. Husky and Craftsman is cheaper than US General. I just can not be swayed into seeing the supposed value in such expensive name branded boxes. This is not meant to discount YOUR views, just sharing mine and my lifetime of experience. I hate seeing the young kids these days falling for the whole Snap-on scheme.

I agree. I have around 3K in the Icon. The us general is around 1,500. For the different accessory out on options later on that’s why I like the icon system better than the US general. As for snap on I don’t think I said I supported the toolboxes rather than just some expensive tools depending on what they are and the task. There are plenty of options available now in terms to tools.

Go see it in person. You will immediately see a difference. Icon is a much beefier build and deeper. I have a pretty big US General chest and a top box. It's really good for the price. I was initially think a little like you. I can still get pretty damn good on a budget. But then you see them side by side in person and your perspective shifts real quick.

The problem is it’s either us general. Or a used Snap on or Mac box instead of Icon. I know a lot guys selling used name brand boxes are asking alot. But I’ve seen plenty for 3500-4k your better off buying that than a new Icon.

Question I seen this video a couple months old I have the 88in macsimizer im thinking on buying the icon set up like a mr big lol question how deep are the drawers? My mac is 27 in depth but the drawers are 25. I appreciate it

Harbor freight isn’t what they where 10 years ago. They are really changing their business model to be the new craftsman tools and go head on with the tool trucks.

I would not hold my breath for that, the US General roll cart is the bread and butter for harbor freight and just about the industry standard. Even the big tool truck brands can’t compete with it.

@@kevinlopota3626 I’m still hopeful. I have the us general 5 drawer now and compared to my friends carts “ bluepoint” there is really no measurable difference in quality. So I understand why they are so well adopted. His bluepoint was nearly 1k. For that money I think HF/Icon could bring a card to market that would be far superior.

Good thought. Mac tools quit making the 25” deep that I have. Same deal, would they have the 26” slides and drawers if I needed them, probably not.
