From my teen-angst in middle-school when I was angry at the world to (now) my 20's and navigating through adulthood with faux optimism, Icon For Hire is still the where I find my best comfort. There seriously isn't a single song I don't like and I still know every word to every song after all this time. Loving hearing that heavy rock sound come back but I love all the music nonetheless. Really hope to get the chance to see you live again! Was there for the comeback in Dallas some odd years ago. Perfect timing for my birthday. One of the best days of my life. Ariel complimented my outfit and that seriously meant the world to me, to this day it still does, and when I'm feeling down, I think back to that night. So thank you for that. during the chorus i hear a throwback rhythm to 'Pieces' by IFH, and then the t.a.t.u. 'All the things she said' kinda throwback around 2:00 or so...all in all, it's a great piece on its own that subliminally leads you to at least 2 other amazing songs as well....that's a win-win-win

Yaknow...I just realized....this song is probably about being a people-pleaser....letting people take what they want, just to keep the peace....the part "and if you should ask, my dying breath, wouldn't know how to say no" really hit that home....either by being brainwashed by an abuser, caregiver, ex, etc...or any other combination....it's like we'll survive, broken, beaten, and battle-scarred....no matter how much you break us....we'll still be here, fighting for another day.....it's quite sad really....but is the reality of so many of us.
