My experiences have taught me that Harbor Freight is practical for one time or limited use tool needs, not tools that are commonly used over many years. So I view the positive about the advent of the Icon tool line is they will cost Snap-On sales which will cause Snap-On to cease escalating their prices to even higher levels.

I would not touch their Pittsburgh Line of tools but ICON is pretty fair and hold up.

I agree the packaging should be reworked there is a lot of wasted space. I’ve be having to buy new storage to maximize space soon.

Nice review, no bias just the facts and I like that. I turned wrenches for 45+ years in vehicles and aviation. Now retired and not having a truck brand dealer I am buying some of the Icon tools as fillers for what I did buy when I started. Of course back then we did not ratcheting wrenches so I picked up a set of SAE and metric long reaches to try out and the 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" flex head chrome ratchets. I kind of like the Icons so far and seem to be a well built tool.

I'm definitely impressed with the quality at this price point. The snap-on ratchets are nicer but I'm not sure they are $120.00 nicer.

ICON, Tekton, Craftsman V Series, and Williams are all fairly good. I do not keep OEM packaging when I get wrenches. I am using Tool Rolls because some times I need multiple wrenches or I go mobile on field calls. And man do I need a bigger tool box anyway, DEFINITELY! FAIR REVIEW! ICON has not failed me yet.

The icon trays are bulky. Would definitely like if they made them smaller

What are the chances of finding someone selling a Snap On tray for reasonable money?

The same set was on sale for 35 bucks at HF today, decided to pick them up to replace an old husky set. Its great to hear your opinion, on the whole snap on vs icon price point.

The shoplifters are getting out of control. I went to Home Depot the other day, not one complete set of wrenches. All the 10mm wrenches missing, ripped out of the holders. What is this world coming to.

I dont happen to see an occasion where i would need a stubby wrench
@daveg.55795 жыл бұрын
There are many applications in heavy equipment and aviation where a lock nut is in a cylinder channel or an area with limited access (small access panel) where these wrenches are the only thing that will work. They are not a high torque tool so I didn't do any destructive testing.
@MiguelGarcia-nl3ci5 жыл бұрын
@@daveg.5579 Yeah, I wasn't specific though, so what I meant is that I already have the ratcheting stubby wrenches, so I don't need the set you have. But, what I did not like about their set is that they did not include the 8mm and the 9mm. So, to me, that isn't a complete set. But their wrenches are nice, but I also bought their 1/4 ratchet and a complaint I have so far is that it did not come lubricated, and the selector switch is too far from the head and it caused the switch the selector switch to move to the opposite direction.
@daveg.55795 жыл бұрын
@@MiguelGarcia-nl3ci The metric set I owned was the Snap-on. I bought the HF Std set from 1/4 to 3/4 including the 11/32 which is a separate purchase from Snap-on. I was surprised at the quality of the HF wrenches and if they give me a few I'll review them.

Harbour freight packaged in a way that you can take a good look at the spanners in the shelf before buying it, Snap on have the salesman with the spanners in hand shwing you they don't need a nice packaging. My short spanners take the most abuse with the hammer the poor things are slogging spanners and don't even know it..
