Tbh I see no major difference between back then and now in terms of teenagers life. We just used Tumblr and were listening to Lana del Rey a l o t but this whole aesthetic was visible mostly online. It's not like missing the 80s or 90s when the cultural stuff were actually taking place in real life. I was 15 at the time, cried a lot and spent almost all my free time at home. But I live in Poland so maybe this experience isn't universal 🤔

As someone who was a teen during that era i honestly think most of us werent actually able to embody this aesthetic irl like instead of dressing soft grunge all the time u maybe had one or two outfits like that bc thats all ur parents would be willing to buy for u n the rest of the time u just wore hot topic band tees n wished u could live the life u thought others were living bc of their tumblr or ig posts also the romanticization of mental illness during that era was not fun when u were actually mentally ill n trying to explain to ppl that mental anguish isnt fun or cute

A lot of Coachella was cultural appropriation, especially when henna "tattoos" became a thing. Like, I'm glad my fellow brown girls were thriving, but using henna as a fashion statement in such a way still gives me the ick. The complaining about the festival is so funny to me, that’s my experience of every festival I’ve been to and I’m small but always enjoy the mosh part of the crowd. stand in the back out of the fun jumping/moshing crowd if you don’t like the atmosphere

HOW DID YOU LEAVE OUT SKY FERREIRA THEEEE OG TUMBLR GIRL OF 2014
@gwtst2 жыл бұрын
uhm, I got really hooked to your opinion when you talked about "Ultraviolence" because then you put Taylor Swift on top which I never listened to 😁 I got confused with my own reality and perspective of those past times but mainly I remember feeling every single sound and word of Lana's UV. I remember every piece of it and I remember saving up money to purchase it from the international website (at the time it was difficult to get access to internet at home and the whole "buy online" thing was not for me) and it was like a big thing that happened I had a t-shirt with the album's cover printed on it but I gave it away 2 years ago because the image would keep getting distorted and Lana's face getting funny. apart from that, I realized my whole 2014 experience has really vanished.

and my thoughts on Lana are quite similar to yours.. apart from a couple of songs here and there, the way romantic love and "herself" were portrayed always pushed me away from her music even though a LOT of my friends were into it idk bad vibes..

Popping in to say flannel in Australia is the exact same thing as Canada LOL for us it's associated with bogans/working class/tradie types. So everyone under the sun wears flannel, particularly the 40+ year old men who drink pisser beer and have their buttcracks out when working on something. I still had my 2010s flannel but donated them to the op shop a couple weeks ago because of all the things I wanna bring back from my old wardrobe, that's one thing I won't be LOL I feel it's only a 'moment' for grunge/hipster if it's not in the area you live. If you live around farmers, lumberjacks, tradies, blue collar working class, bogans and rednecks etc, it's *all you will ever fucking see* so it loses its charm.

I still wear liquid lipsticks and don’t find it hard to reapply. Why would anyone need to take it off to reapply? Can’t you just reapply like any solid lipstick? Maybe I just bought brands and formulas that weren’t the ones she’s buying 😅 Most of mine are colourpop btw.
@LisaFevral Жыл бұрын
Colourpops liquid lipstick is not what liquid lipsticks technically mean, their formula is more in line with mousse lipsticks or velvet tints. I wear velvet tints all the time, since like 5-7 years ago, but they are not the same as liquid lipsticks.

@@LisaFevral haha, well I've been dying it on and off since 2018 and gotten a lot of compliments in that so I think so! At the very least it's looks nothing like the reference you pull. I tend to start the dye a lot lower and with a lot more a blend.

I think that Kylie reference is not a bad dye job, so if yours is even better that’s a win
