Someone had to have her toe amputated due to a medical problem and she kept it because she wants to be buried with it when she dies. A while later the preservative has expired so she found someone who had the skills to put the toe into a different vessel with fresh preservative solution. The funny thing about Alexandria's Genesis is it was made up for a fanfic series back in the late 90s/early 00s as a condition for the author's self-insert Mary Sue OC, and someone completely random who'd read the stories peddled that as fact later.
