Great Reaction! Fun fact: Zemeckis wanted Bill Murray to play Eddie Valiant but they couldnt reach him in time and they got Bob Hoskins in the end. Murray ranted about this after learning it. They also wanted Christopher Lee to play Judge Doom, he rejected the offer Tim Curry and John Cleese additioned for the role of Judge Doom The director/producers refused Curry because they found him too scary, and Cleese being a former member of Monty Python not convincing for a sadistic villain

Really? That's awesome! 😲👍🏻😉 I read a while back they also tried to get Eddie Murphy for this movie. At first he thought he was being offered the role of Roger's voice. After realizing he was actually being offered the part of the cranky Detective Valiant, he turned it down. He admitted feeling like an idiot, after the movie came out 🤦🏻‍♂️😅😅😅

However it happened, they got the right actors for the job, although Tim Curry might have done as well. Would any other actor besides Bob Hoskins have gone the extra mile, beyond the call of duty, to convincingly appear to look AT toons and focus on them?

Getting Disney and Warner brother cartoons to appear next to each other, or having the animators calculate and measure the size of characters in each frame before drawing them (back before CGI) was considered impossible, but Steven Spielberg didn't ask if it could be done, he asked "how much would it cost". Then when people quoted "go away" prices, he paid them.

The drunk in the bar who refers to the rabbit as 'Harvey' is a reference to a play called... Well, 'Harvey' whereby the main character states he has an invisible friend who is a giant rabbit. It was adapted into a film in 1950, and is supposed to be pretty good.

Thanks for enjoying this movie, Vanessa! I remember it so fondly from my childhood. You said it's important for a man to make a woman laugh. I agree, but it's even more important for toons. To them, the most important thing in life is humour, and the power to amuse others. So when Jessica said that Roger makes her laugh, she was paying him the highest compliment that one toon can to another.

Fun reaction! This movie was a near-miracle to make. It has both Warner Bros. and Disney characters, and those studios were (and are) rivals, especially in animation. They had to do a lot of haggling to get all the characters in the movie; one rule was that the important characters had to have the same number of lines. Thus, similar lines in Daffy/Donald and also in the Mickey/Bugs scenes.

Also, love how they directed final fight sequence using toon items. This film's universe managed to create a believable universe where toons and humans co-exist side by side in real life. Also another bit of random info on this film/universe, the toons are basically second class citizens lol. They don't mind it because they genuinely enjoy entertaining humans and making them laugh, it's the sole reason they exist in the first place, but they're basically are treated like second class citizens. It's also the reason Acme had to make a will to ensure that toon town be left alone. There 100% would be people that take advantage of the toons good nature to wreck toon town for their own agenda.

Maybe it wasn't precisely a KID'S movie, per se, but you better believe we watched it as kids back in the day. It was a huge part of pop culture in general - Roger Rabbit showed up a lot at Disneyland and other such places for years afterward. I think of it as one of those 'something for everyone' sort of movies - there's enough color and wackiness and hijinks to keep kids entertained, and enough darkness and weirdness and mystery to keep adults invested. (And if you know anything about movie-making, and the sheer amount of effort that went into making this movie, it gets more impressive every time you watch it - it's not just the animation that still holds up; this was an absolute MASTERPIECE of special effects for its day.)

The deal for the Looney Tunes being in the movie was that they have equal screen time with the Disney characters. That's why a lot of them appear together, like Donald and Daffy and Mickey and Bugs. And if they didn't share screen time, they had about equal time on screen, like Dumbo and Yosemite Sam. The behind the scenes of this movie is wild!

A current generation will chuckle at the reference to "Harvey", but but almost none of them get it. He's the title character in a 1944 play, and subsequent movie. He is a 6' 3 1/2" Invisible white rabbit. Hence, Angelo pretends that he's sitting next to him on the barstool.

Yah, men's pants were worn much higher in the past. You see it in older movies from the '30s an '40s, like Bogart in The Maltese Falcon or James Stewart in lotsa movies. Think it was part of the way tailors made men's legs look longer and thus them appear taller. 2:54 When Angelo mentions seeing a rabbit and introduces "Harvey", that's the same fictional imaginary rabbit Andy Dufresne references in Shawshank Redemption ("Second cousin to Harvey the Rabbit").

This movie played very well in Los Angeles, because it had so much fun with our history. The "Who needs a car in LA?" line got the biggest laugh of the movie. We did have a very good public transit system for about 40 years, until it was replaced by freeways. However, the transit system today is vastly better than it was in 1988 when this film was released.

Toon logic: The foundation of fidelity for a Toon couple is fun instead of sex. Only Roger is supposed to be the one to make Jessica laugh. He truly was hurt to see her playing a game with anyone else. "Pattycake" is literal, not a euphemism for fornication.

It's not just toon logic, it's toon physics. When Roger said he could only take his hand out of the cuffs when it was funny, this was literally true. It's how toons work in this setting. Eddie used that against the weasels at the end. That's why he stopped before going back into Toontown and got out a gun that literally fired joke bullets.
@TherealRNOwwfpooh

Except the "pattycake" scene had double (or rather multiple) meanings, because "pattycake" is actual Golden Age Hollywood lingo for extra-marital affairs ("You're not the only man whose wife 'played pattycake' on him.") & is a genuine euphemism for sex, with the literal "pattycake" pictures being both a visual metaphor (as Marvin ACME & Jessica Rabbit were literally playing pattycake, but when Eddie Valiant was taking the incriminating photos, the questionable sounds Jessica were making definitely made it sound like she was two-timing her hare husband with the live human founder of Toon Town) as well as a visual gag (thanks to Roger flipping through the photos so that they moved like an old-school animation flipbook).

Ironic that this was based on a book titled "Who Censored Roger Rabbit." Since the movie came out, it has been censored by Disney: In the beginning when Baby Herman stuck his hand up the girl's dress and said, "Excuse me, Toots!" he originally had his fingers up like he was giving her vagoliannanina a tickle. Speaking of vageinaylallielays, when the toon cabbie rode over the spilled dip and Jessica was thrown from the cab, there was a single frame where you could see her... Well, you know. They later drew panties on her.

I like that you are watching movies that were popular during their time but haven't been done to death by other reacters.

Fun fact: The actor who voiced Roger Rabbit was in Back to the Future Part 2, he was the guy in 2015 who gave Marty the idea to buy the Sports Almanac and go back in time. Also in the Antique shop in 2015 you can actually see a stuffed Roger Rabbit toy.

Nice reaction. So Many funny cuts🤩😆, and the flashback to Bad Santa🙏❤🍾🥃so great memories. The bad guy's melting death reminds "Street Trash"🤮🤣(intentionally or not), but never watch it! It may be the grossest movie ever made haha.
