I think aside from general misogyny, her alleged reaction to the wife's confrontation played a big part in her downfall with the public eye tbh. "You should've taken better care of your husband" and then we learn just how much the wife had sacrificed for her husband so he could spend all his time on his craft? Adultery was actually a crime in South Korea - illegal and punishable with jail time for over 60 years. No. Actor Lee byung hun is widely liked and people also love his works. He cheated on his wife. He's not blacklisted. He's still working successfully in the TV industry. Sulli was hated/criticized for dating an older man whereas the older man was not criticized for dating such a young girl. Female celebrities are blacklisted/ cancelled for much less compared to the male celebrities there. But I think for idols, I think it's the same for both men and women. Separating the art from the artist is one of those tricky PERSONAL moral questions. There's no right answer. Again, I do agree that you can't police other people, but we should all have our own personal boundaries and morals on choosing who to passively and actively support. Like maybe you are okay with watching or casually listening to a cheating man's music, but are you okay with listening to an abusers music? Are you okay with giving views and therefore inderect support and money to someone who is known to have SA'd people? Enjoying media that a "problematic" person is in doesnt directly mean you agree with that person's bahaviors, but it might be inderectly supporting the person (by giving them views and keeping them relevant, and helping them profit). Thats why i think we should all try to keep in mind how and why we consume a piece of media. For more serious situations I think people should at least consider pirating/ second hand buying and viewing of items. That way you can enjoy ur piece of media without supporting someone who crossed ur morals.
