Love what you both are doing for locals... the ones with businesses there, the ones still there, and the ex-pats who still come home to visit. So much aloha and good grindz in your videos. Mahalo nui!

My old neighborhood! I used to live in Kalihi a couple years back. I wish I had known about more of the food places back then, but I was new to Oahu at the time so I just went to the same couple places I was familiar with. But, better late than never! :-). And thanks for including the map of where Monarch is located. I vote for doing that for each place you visit to help us fans of maps out. ;-) And happy 8k subs (almost)! おめでとうございます!

looks so good. something for the future, a number of years ago we were in Las Vegas for a family reunion and decided to search out "local food". Since so many people from the Islands have relocated to LV there are some really good places to eat other than at the Cal. You might consider doing a video on places to eat in LV when it's easier to travel.

Dat was funny Felix. Right after you helped Amanda eat the mochi with your hand under her mouth, you ate yours with the kinako falling without your pro tip hand below your mouth. As for Alicia's, Felix you are absolutely correct, it's da place to go for local iconic favorites. Especially if you just got off da plane!

Saw your video yesterday. I lived in Kalihi valley for nine years and didn't know about these places. Called my neighbor and took off for town. Need to use Google maps to find these places. Parking was tight at both places. Nishodo is the bomb. Got 11 pieces for just over $10 (have to spend $10 to be able to charge). From there we went to Guieb ordered meatloaf w/ fried onions and mushrooms, rice and imitation crab salad. It was 3 pieces stacked high with Ono gravy. Side order sweet potato fries which was big enough for 2 of us with leftovers. We got there about noon and were able to dine in. I told both places that we saw them on Amanda and Felix eats on KZbin. So happy with the food, mahalo.

Great video! Love the pro tips Felix...especially with the mochi...lol...Mochi reminds me of my Aikido sensei making it after our new years morning workout, that along with sake shots! Banzai! Gonna get some at Nisshido's when we get into town. My wife remembers going to Alicia's a while ago. Great to have some spicy ahi without the mayo. Another stop on the list...Don't know how it is now, but we used to go to Kim Chee II Restaurant on Waialae Ave. We took haole friends there and they loved the cheap eats, Korean style.
