I owned a ‘77 Ducati 900 SS with a similar paint scheme. Same start up procedure! This takes me back! Great bike! Thanks for the ride!!! I sold mine in 1985 but will never forget!

Thank you for commenting on my video - it is a great bike and the sound and feel can make any day a good one. In my opinion many bikes from that era has that possible effect on us riders - some models more than others.. I have never had the pleasure of riding the Morini models my selv, but believe them to be as true Italians as anything else out there! Safe riding for DK as well :)

Just as you have asked... It's a 1982 MHR dressed up as a 75-77 900SS, not including the wheels. You'll find that all of the body parts are changed and obviously the paint job, including the frame, as well. You can see a correct 1982 900SS on my channel for comparison. Beware the severe blue-ing on the lower header if you still have the Bosch ignition boxes. It indicates a lack of advance on that one. I had that issue.
@Ducati900SS4 жыл бұрын
Sorry... another edit. I've also just noticed the rear peg mount. It looks like the chassis is possibly an 84, maybe even an S2. Have a look on this list and see where your chassis number sits: www.bevelheaven.com/data-squarecase.htm
@MartinCorvinius4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for commenting and the info - it is appreciated :) The blue-ing has been a source of some frustration for me. Will try to swap Bosch ignition box and see if that is going to correct the issue. Cheers!
@Ducati900SS4 жыл бұрын
@@MartinCorvinius Just be careful... if you swap it and the box is in fact faulty, the upper header will also go blue... very quickly. Mine did in a matter of minutes.

Lovely bike, a really nice specimen. In your next video, consider buying an audio recording device which you can fit under your rear seat away from the wind. Then, after you finish recording your ride, link the separate audio with your video in your editing software. The results are simply outstanding and I reckon your bike would sound awesome.
@MartinCorvinius4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for commenting Ivan - great idea about the sound recorder. Do you recommend any particular brand/product for the job?
@ivanjulian25324 жыл бұрын
@@MartinCorvinius you'll get by with any digital voice recorder. Just make sure to get one with adjustable recording volume so that you can set the correct levels and not get any audio distortion under maximum throttle.

I have the same bike nice shape!!! But some thing doesn't sound right maybe the clutch ?
@MartinCorvinius4 жыл бұрын
Good ears ;P The bike suffers from the infamous clutch slippage.. For the most part I run the bike at more moderat speeds so haven really had any reason to fix it.. :)
@HDSME4 жыл бұрын
@@MartinCorvinius yes I thought so mostly at the idle I believe the inner shim is gone it's very simple fix. She pulls great and do you know you can get the racing kit and get like 90 hp out of her. I think it makes about 80 hp and it has long legs I use race mine and it all do well over 125 mph I still have some brand new parts for it good luck great looking bike Tony
@MartinCorvinius4 жыл бұрын
@@HDSME Im curious now :) Inner shim on one of the heads? The bike has a problem with heat on front cylinder head. Looking at the downpipe the front one is all blue and the back one not at all - maybe related? Didnt know about the racing kit - can you point me in a general direction as to where to acquire? Cheers Martin

@@MartinCorvinius no!!! On the clutch there's a rear shim on some of them or the plates may be worn new springs or plates you should good as gold asas co,or the blue is correct the cylinder normal runs hoter!!! Chk your plug set the idle mixture cleaner in the rear Go bye the spark plug colors also I set mine up in the dark ! Some times the pipes can get slightly red but that's the old racing way The kit has a smaller rear sprocket milia camshaft and black hollow high e exhaust they very loud but man that's vioce of a ducati Let me know I'll chk for you and get back to you Thank you Tony

it would be nice if you actually got the bike on camera doing the walk around.
@michaelscott10605 жыл бұрын
That is not a1982 SS the 2 elements of the frame give it away that’s the rear muffler hangers but more importantly the front engine mounts are flattened not buttress welded as they should be.
@MartinCorvinius5 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael - indeed you are correct. I posted a reply a while back on one of the other comments regarding this. The engine and frame is from a Ducati 900 S2 so it is a replica. Also the instruments and dashboard gives it away - to my knowledge no 900 SS was ever build with the Darmah dash arrangement :)

Yes.. in recent years the price has gone through the roof. I do not think that there is an objective answer as to why.. Some of it may be due to the fact that so few were ever made, and some due to the fact that Mike Hailwood rode variants of these bikes, with some success (he's last Isle of Man TT as a true fairytale story).. Maybe it's just because its a beautiful bike.. dunno.. but happy to own one, not so much because of the hype and price, but because its an awsome bike to ride.. A real manbike that throws almost no compromises the riders way :)
@pravyk16 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answer! Any production numbers available?
@MartinCorvinius6 жыл бұрын
If Ian Falloon got it right (Standard catalog of Ducati Motorcycles), the production numbers should be something like this (sourced from he's book). The Ducati 900 SS (1975-1982): Aprox. 6.100 bikes ever made. The Ducati 900 Sport Darmah (1977-1982): Aprox. 5.600 bikes ever made. The Ducati 900SS Darmah (1978-1981): Aprox. 1.400 bikes ever made. The Ducati 900 S2 (1982-1984): Aprox. 1.200 bikes ever made. Based on my engine and frame number, I belive my 900 SS to be a replica made from a Ducati 900 S2 /Martin
