This leg focused on my home waters -- when you turned right off the ICW into the St. Lucie River, my place is straight ahead where the Indian River lagoon narrows into the ICW going south. Great boating area.

I get it Captain, having just completed the icw from Reedville Va to Fort Pierce Fl (17 days 113 hours). my main focus, like you, was keeping the vessel safely on the straight and narrow. Working out would have been nice, like icing on the cake, but not number one priority. And yes, I can appreciate climbing those stairs 100 times. LOL.

@@AdventuresofHappyOurs I’ve already enjoyed them. :). I rented one of those canal boats for a week in 2005 and went to Sylvan Beach and back. Bow thruster failed on day two so it was fun laying that single screw inboard up against the lock walls. LOL. Years later I made this aerial vid of the Waterford flight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jofEpmNsgLaXndU

This has been a great insight into the IWC which is much different than I had thought, and I know the route you chose is not the only one but nonetheless it has been very interesting. We just did a VRBO in Cape Coral last February - March and had plans to return this winter but mother nature had other plans. I hope you get your home back in shape. Cape Coral is a lovely place and a little overlooked by many.

Thank you for this information. I share your dream, though I'm a year or two behind and we might root for rival sports teams. You present information in an analytical method, my guess is you were an engineer in a previous live? In the video, you reference running on a single engine, I can only assume for economy. Have you ran any numbers?
@AdventuresofHappyOurs2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t call myself an engineer but had to be a good fault locator. Running single engine is not only for fuel economy but also less west and tear on the engines that are off. I only lost a couple mph at 7 knots when using a single engine but used nearly half the fuel. So definitely a strategy for slow long range cruising.

When you run on one engine for some hours, when you get the other fixed, do you run it alone for that amount of hours so they have the same hours? I never see boats for sale with 2 different hours on the engines?? Plus the bar name will be: The NYC Seahorse Saddle Ranch & Marina South - Roast beef with king crab sandwich specials! Seahorses rule!
@AdventuresofHappyOurs2 жыл бұрын
I alternate the engines to keep the hours even. They are both running fine at this point.

@@AdventuresofHappyOurs I am looking to semi-retire on a galeon 510 sky, if I can swing it. Please, how many hours is a lot a litte and medum for these penta engines?Thx.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs2 жыл бұрын
Gas engines should easily get 1500 hours or more if properly maintained and cared for. By that time most external parts would have been replaced at least once(fuel pumps, manifolds, risers, hoses, etc. ). So if your engines have those old parts, expect to replace them along with regular wear and tear items like impellers etc.
