I’ve got a 24 year old Westerbeke 10BTD. I’ve had it for 5 years. It’s been solid and is easy to maintain. The design of your newer model appears to be insane.

You call them on vhf when approaching so they can open the lock. Some ask for your registration or documentation numbers; some just boat name and size. It’s a good idea to check ahead to ensure the locks are operational. Especially after storms. Sometimes they close temporarily.

Odd, even in Arizona, electrical code requires all outdoor electrical boxes to be 4 feet above ground level. Maybe have them mounted to a piling up high?

Glady to hear you had no damage to your boat. From the hurricane. I have been watching most of your videos. I really like your Regal 26xo. Im looking to get one. Can you tell more about what you think of 26XO? Beside the issue with the generator.

They are well made boats and quality craftsmanship. I only wish it was a little more space to get into mid cabin.

Thanks for the update. Surge in Ft Myers peaked at 5.44 ft just after midnight. Ian peaked at 7.24 for reference. What area of the Cape is this? and did you get water in your home during Ian?

Thanks for the update. I was curious how high the water came at your place. I believe high tide was Fri at 2 AM. We got lucky with this storm. This morning it was so nice to get up to the peace and quiet of no continuous wind. The poor people up North. They got it like we got Ian.

Definitely is a price to pay for living in the boating capital of the world. Personally the only way I would do it is a condo above the 2nd floor with hurricane proof windows.

Or build up on a bit higher ground. I’m up in NW cape just beyond pine island road and west of burnt store rd on a canal and we are 8’ above sea level so our house never floods. Water did come up over our seawall but house is much higher. 🙏 to other folks who lost everything. Took us 1.5 yrs and an attorney to get our roof & pool cage replaced after Ian.

Why do they raise the water level when there is a storm? 🤔 Must be the same government that, in my home state of Wisconsin, they put deer crossings on curves of busy highways. They should put deer crossings on non-busy side roads, and lower the water until the storm is over. Of course, I’m kidding. I wonder how many will think I’m serious?
@pugmahone

OMG - LOL. I often ask myself the same question - how do the deer know to cross here?
