Kurtis, for the most part, does only two things: line boring and hydraulic cylinders - mostly for the mining industry. It's a highly regulated environment with only a small handful of metal workers that have the equipment to do it, niche industry. Commercial equipment has to be maintained in almost 'like new' condition, this means repairing stuff that would otherwise have years of service life left in it. It's not surgery though, it's dull repetition, the same thing all day, every day. He is opinionated, this makes him popular on youtube, but it doesn't make him good.
@advantechdesign2836Ай бұрын
@@nohandleleft Huh? Are you serious? "Kurtis, for the most part, does only two things: line boring and hydraulic cylinders " Seriously? You've never seen him weld? You've never seen him fabricate? You must've missed a lot. Both Issac and Kurtis are masters in what they do. And they both respect each other's work. I do too.
@daisangkung7468Ай бұрын
@@nohandleleft No need to knock Kurtis. He is a very skillful machinist and fabricator.
@jmwarden1Ай бұрын
I was thinking the very same thing. Both are awesome in their different environments and do fantastic work.
@DavidSellars-b8lАй бұрын
This type of repair is like an iceberg. The finish welds look like some easy passes that shouldn't take any time. What's not seen is the thought that goes into "how the heck am I going to fix this". Followed by the "sneaking up on the fit up". Then, the final prep and holding everything in place. Yeah, then, just sew it up. Isaac makes it look just so easy. The man is a true artist. A sculptor chips away what isn't the final piece. A welder has to chip even more away and then replace the material removed. Artistry, I say, artistry!
@ronriehle1337Ай бұрын
Yeah , it's mostly about the prep and customers can't see and don't like paying for prep. But it is what it is !
@brianburns7211Ай бұрын
I’ve said before that I think Isaac has to have some engineering background. I’ve seen videos where he improves on the original design, so the failure can’t happen again. That’s more than skill. That’s using his brain.

I used 7018. You can not tell they were broke.
