I enjoyed that. Nice drone footage of the new bridge. I haven't been out that way since before they started work on it.

Great video. Last year I did Kirkintilloch to Clydebank/return, then on another day Kirkintilloch to The Kelpies/return. Great flat ride with lots to see :)

I only cycled this route once from Rosyth to Glasgow and at the canal it all looks the same and seems to go on forever.

Following up on your response to my comment about possibly bringing my Brompton to Glasgow from the US...I am now here on holiday and took the Brommie out for a spin for about an hour around sunset today (Sunday) when it was drizzly. It was actually quite nice. I had a couple aggressive drivers, but overall I found people to be respectful. Was lit up like a Christmas tree with green reflective vest, helmet, and bright steady lights front & back (not too bright, mind!). Was using the Beeline app for navigation, mostly since I have a separate device that I can mount to my handlebars that doesn't sap phone battery and is waterproof, and it sent me down a few roads with bike lanes where cars were not allowed to turn (which is nice, feels safer that way). One question though, is it technically illegal to ride bicycles on pedestrian streets such as Buchanan St? I know the highway code says it is illegal to ride on pavements, but unclear about completely pedestrianized streets. Cheers!

That’s great that you are here and have your Brompton with you. I’ve not tried the Beeline app and will definitely use it the next time I’m exploring somewhere new. You are not supposed to cycle on Buchanan street but everyone does and I do as well but only when it’s quieter. I’ve only ever been stoped by the police once for cycling on the pavement and to be honest it was twenty odd years ago and I was to going way to fast. They basically just stoped me and told me to slow down. If you are still here on Friday you should come along to the Glasgow critical mass as we meet up in George square at 7pm and go for a group cycle.

Cheers! I will indeed be in town Friday night. That is a great idea. I’ll probably join at George Square.

Hi Buddy, I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and I find your content to be very informative and entertaining. I have a question for you. As an ex squaddie, back in the 1970's, I had a friend who's family lived on the Maryhill scheme. He advised me that if I wanted to visit, I should get a taxi to the address and ask the driver to knock the door as a safety precaution. Is that the case these days? I'M asking because I'm considering a Scottish cycling tour this year, and, I don't want any issues. Just as an aside, I was a lorry driver for 40 years and spent a good deal of time in Scotland, especially Paisley, and found the people welcoming and great company. Looking forward to your response. Fond regards.

Obviously there is areas that you would want to avoid but I find Maryhill area to be ok now. As for touring Scotland I think you will have a great time.

It’s a bit bumpy near Glasgow and it’s a gritty type of surface most of the way. Definitely ok to do on a road bike.

You're quite right to screw your face up when say Kirkintilloch. I "live" here😢
