You guys are actually revealing your own ignorance about how criminals act in the real world... there is a video you can look up on here where a guy with an active warrant for murder calls the police on a McDonald's manager for not remaking his food. YOU are the one underestimating the stupidity of the average criminal. It should not surprise you because breaking the law in a big way (like robbing a business at night) is a ridiculous risk for minimal gain... but someone was still foolish enough to do it.

Unfortunately being guilty until proven innocent has relatively always been the case for a very extended period of time. The only exception to this is if you are a government employee AKA true citizen with what you would could consider reasonable rights (innocent until proven guilty) Etc, and within the government, law enforcement judges Etc. Everyone else on the other hand so called "citizens" AKA regular people outside of the systems (clubs) are actually more akin to slaves as you have no rights and are guilty until proven innocent and will comply or "be dealt with" this can happen to anyone at anytime for any reason.

Bingo. He committed the worst offense possible they know of: Contempt of Cop. So they were going to run him through. "The process is the punishment." His car was towed meaning he was out at least several hundred dollars at the very minimum to get it back. He spent at least one night in jail. And then he had to go through months of dealing with the BS and four(!) appearances before it was all dropped. Penalties for malicious prosecution need to become harsher and applied to any case such as this where it's clear that's what it was and put into their own case and any damages awarded is docked out of the involved officers pay. Shit would stop in a heartbeat then.

The first sentence in that police report tells me all I need to know; "Unable to dispel my alarm" is translated to "unable to prove his innocence" and there the whole problem began. Why didn't the police observe for some time before confronting? Why didn't they run the tag before confronting? The fact that he didn't kiss their boots triggered them.

Equality under the law is something I hold dearly (something I have not yet seen any government in any country abide by) so if we restrict the plain view doctrine then the government is allowed to tell you that your eyes can trespass and we end up with a bigger mess than today. Ideally a good police policy in a county run by integrity would have the chief write it into policy that an officer may not, without a valid legal reason/suspicion run a tag. We all know that won't happen as they are profit driven.

Do not forget to record, lock your doors, leave you windows open 1-2 inches, do not answer questions or have conversations with tyrants. Make copies of your license, insurance & registration. Keep it in a clear cover & clipped it to the inside of your visor to keep for reaching for anything. Display it in the window if it is a traffic stop unless your state requires you to hand it over. We know why they harass people, give unlawful orders, ask crazy questions & do unlawful arrest.

They had to drop the charge since the statue includes "refuses to identify himself..." as a cause for arrest which violates the 4th amendment and could get the whole statue thrown out as unconstitutional.
