How does language shape the way people experience endometriosis? Ida Melander’s research explores how our words influence the perception of the illness and how endometriosis is understood. How can language help us in expressing our feelings, and offering support to others?
Ida Melander is a researcher and Senior Lecturer in Swedish Language at Örebro University, Sweden. Her 2022 PhD dissertation investigates discussions about endometriosis on the online forum Familjeliv, in patient referrals for specialist care, and on Instagram.
