Thanks for the honest reporting. We had been planning to move to the Eagle or Star area for the last year or so and recently decided against it because it's become so un-affordable. The affordability index is among the worst in the nation with the incredible price increases over the past four years. I'm retiring and could afford the pricing, but my kids want to follow us and they're far from retired and we want them to be able to get into affordable housing. That's not Idaho anymore. So we're now looking elsewhere. Homes in Ft Worth are half of what they are in the Boise area so it just can't be ignored. Property taxes are a lot higher - sure - but with a lower valuation - it's almost not even a factor. Idaho would have been fun. We're bummed but that's the way it is.

This video does a nice job of the balance between the 'pros' and 'cons' of Idaho, even if some of us consider the 'cons' as 'pros'. Not mentioned as a 'con' though would be ACHD (Ada County Highway District), by far the poorest managed government agency in the state, causing unnecessary gridlock throughout Ada county...

2020-2022 was truly insane. Is that ever good to actually hear!! I recently relocated across Canada to Alberta because of all that insanity; if Alberta goes, I'll be looking “south”. ☺️
