I think the exhaust fan is a must... if you want proof of that take a flashlight before you spray and turn off the lights. Walk around the garage or area outside of the booth. Spray your job. Do the same thing now with the flashlight... there will be a mist filling the entire room and it will travel everywhere and anywhere it is allowed to. This isn't going to really damage anything ( hope you seal up any intake vents for home HVAC system! ) but it will fall onto every horizontal surface and leave you with a possibly irritated homeowner... and a lot of unnecessary cleanup. Use the exhaust fan, every time! Great booth idea and really easy to create something like this in a garage that might be available.

Just a tip to save filters. Landscaping fabric works wonders in front of your main filter easy to replace and cheap, keeps the air flow at a constant level without pulling the filter.

Would need an explosion proof fan to be safe with alot of paints particularly solvent based products because the particulate could be exposed to the motor which if it is not explosion proof could ignite the paint

True... but I think PL and many others are making the move to all water-based products for safety and environmental reasons.

Awesome set up! There has been an incredible demand for cabinet painting in the last few years and the Paintline products have been great. Hoping to get my hands on one of these soon. Chris you mentioned that you have moved to water base (non-lacquer) finishes. I Can you elaborate on specific cabinet primers that you use? I have always used a lacquer based primer and followed with SHerwin Emerald Urethane. Curious about non solvent based alternatives for primers. Thanks!

Can this same setup with the ventilation be used if I want to sand in the booth? We do wood working and although we have dust collection system, we are concerned that dust could still be in the air. Furthermore, is there a way to shut off the one wall that has no plastic covering it? I believe having a doorway wood further limit fresh air so how does this system accommodate that condition of completely closing off the booth? How well does this filtration system keep the spray mist from exiting at all?

Are you not concerned about unfiltered air being drawn in under the sides of the tent? Id put the exhaust hose back into the tent so that the air volume is unrestricted and only cleaned air is entering the booth. Thanks for the content.

You could really buy an 8x8 or 10 by whatever popup tent to spray in. Cut your own hole and put a 10" explosion proof fan. Done
