I noticed there are hardly any good videos on idatastart systems so I decided to make this one for anyone interested in buying one. As of now I'm quite impressed with it and would recommend.

I recently got the 2 way installed on my 20 year old shitbox. When I try to start it the anti theft alarm goes off. What am I doing wrong here?

Press the lock button once or twice before remote starting it. That fixed the problem for me. This doesn't bother me really since most newer cars equipped with remote starters usually require this step before you can even remote start the vehicle.

Nice job for the old GMC! How do you shut down the engine from the remote? Mine starts, but if you hold a key button for 3 sec, engine won't stop...

Thank you! I press and hold the key button until the remotes lights flash and its always shut my engine off. You might need to connect your module to your computer and check your settings.

Did you do this without that T harness? That’s my only issue, I don’t want to pull the trigger on it if it’s not possible without the harness since they don’t make it for my car

Yeah unfortunately they don't make T harnesses for this vehicle so I went with T-tap wire connectors to make all of the connections.

@@ZacharyBeland got ya ty, on the site when I enter my car it says it only supports bypass, and takeover. Not even able to unlock the door with this so I’m just going to wait til the morning to call their support and see if that’s right lol

Remote start is super convenient. I love mine and I use the pit stop feature on it all the time haha. The two way system would be a nice upgrade though

It really is, I've always wanted to put one in my winter vehicles of the past but always put it off. It has really made the winter weather that much more bearable. Coming out to an already warm interior and the ice on the windshield already melting makes cleaning off the rest of the car quick and almost effortless. And yeah the pit stop is great, I use it almost daily. Highly recommend two way, knowing for sure my truck started or locked without being near it is some nice piece of mind.

Can you turn the car on from factory remote as well?

Yes you can! I forget the button sequence but I believe it's lock button twice and then you hold it. The only bad thing about using the factory remote is not having two-way so you don't know for sure the vehicle started unless you can actually see the vehicle is running.

How do we program the horn length beep length?

You'll need to download the Weblink Desktop application from idatastart's website onto your computer. Then you plug your idatastart control module into your computer with the USB cable and use the Weblink Desktop software to go through all of the settings and customize to your liking.

I left mine hidden but somewhat accessible and with the micro USB end of the cable plugged into the module. All I have to do is bring my laptop into the truck and reach under my dashboard for the other end of the USB cable I have tucked away. Assuming you don't have a laptop, I'd just unplug the harnesses going into the module since they easily unplug.
