Really enjoyed the video ALAN! I am a big fan of Ideal Boilers, I am based in North Manchester and they are made in Hull in East Yorkshire. I used to work for Eaga/ Carillion on the Warmfront/Warmsure grant projects, first as a contractor and later as direct, and dealt with IDEAL all the time, and I have to say that their innovation, yet dedication to simplicity, whilst retaining a high build quality is so refreshing! Their technical department are first class to deal with and are a 50/50 mix of male and female technical staff who are well versed, and well trained in their produscts, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. ( They are my first choice install, and I do fit a lot of Logics, but I also rate Vaillant Eco tecs highly) Re the video, I agree with everything you say about 'Worcester Bosch' boilers, and leaking 'composite' parts. As for the surprise, I think I am going to have to watch it back as it was a bit rushed, but it was great to see the product introduced by 'THE GREAT JOHN WILSON' from Ravenheat! Absolute legend, I have met him a couple of times and been to Ravenheat's training day, a very helpful, knowledgeable man, who is passionate about what he does! And he has even got a better head of hair than me! Keep up the good work PAL! Cheers David Waterhouse, Pipecraft Plumbing and Heating! dx

just replaced our old boiler which had been going 30 years when we recently bought the house. Wanted to replace it with a new efficient one and chose the Ideal Vogue Max which came with the Halo room wireless controller. Couldn't be easier to use and boiler runs almost silently. Really impressed with the build quality which betters the equivalent Worcester Bosch ones. Despite the whole house being on micro-bore, radiators are hot within a few minutes of the boiler switching on. Installer really liked this model and says he's yet to hear of any breaking down within their 10 year warranty. User interface is very advanced and well designed with loads of features which are probably of more use to the service engineer than the average owner who will likely only ever use the remote or their phone app to control the boiler functions.

So Ideal at last climbing up the grid ( to use an F1 expression) .From the heights of the E Type to the lows of the Isis and it's siblings which could not possibly be any worse . A boiler that seriously damaged Ideals reputation ,to the not entirely convincing Logic with its heat exchanger and sump issues . The Vogue's 12 year guarantee is impressive and that display is amazing, Not sure about swoping plastic for brass .A cost cutting exercise or why would you swap something that works for something that does not ( at least on the Worster. ) In Ideals favour never had any trouble getting them out under warranty even to the Isis although that was several years ago now.

Hi Allen, really enjoyed this video as i had fitted the C40 boiler 2 years ago after watching your videos and reading other people's reviews etc, also had k2 radiators fitted at the same time with new stats etc and my home has never felt so warm as it does now, just had the 2nd year service done, but the engineer didn't take a vacuum with him whilst he was servicing the boiler should i be concerned about him not vacuuming out the heat exchanger? Also a random question the water that comes out of the condenser pipe is it acidic or is it just distilled type water, thanks i really hope that you answer my questions as i am a little concerned

Hi David, I wouldn’t worry about the vac, The condensate is slightly acidic. Thanks.

@@AllenHart999, hi Allen thank you for answering my questions so quickly it's appreciated and you have put my mind to rest, the reason i asked about the condenser pipe as its been leaking, and not for the first time, the engineer has come to the conclusion that the fall is incorrect and the water is lying in the pipe work and he said it was acidic water and its damaging the joints? Which i do find hard to believe

Allen, i have this exact boiler, this age but 32kw. Sometimes when we turn on the hot water (when the boiler is cold) the boiler fires for a second, then cycles off and back on. It means it takes ages to get the shower to temperature. I had a similar problen with a baxi duotec in my old house, i think the engineer adjusted a gap in the combustion chamber, flame sensor maybe? Could this be the problem here? Obvs not going to attempt it myself but would be nice to know when the engineer comes to service it.

Hello Allen, I am in the process of relocating back to the UK from South Africa and looking seriously at a property unfortunately just outside your area (actually in Stokesley North Yorkshire). At the premises is an Ideal gas boiler, the model is M3080, they have a service agreement with British Gas and have it serviced annually and it was installed August 2003. I would appreciate your comments on this type of boiler and should I replace it? Cheers Tony
@01plumberman4 жыл бұрын
localboy the M3080 is an old condensing boiler and can be costly to repair and in some cases depending on the serial number, some parts are obsolete. Regardless of a British Gas contract having looked after it, in my professional view that means Jack S**t. Their engineers DO NOT service appliances correctly in line with the manufacturers instructions so do not think it will be in tip top condition.... far from it I’d guess. To summarise, put money aside to replace it when you can and spend no money repairing it 👍🏻

We have a Logic Heat 24. Had it from new with our new house. Thought we had a 10 year warranty until the heat exchanger failed after 2 years. Evidently you only get 10 years if you have a filter installed from new. Ideal said sorry no cover...£700 to fit a new heat exchanger. No-one told us about the filter, not even the builder. Played hell with builder who made Ideal change the heat exchanger. Top of the market filter installed by me. Ideal said the new heat exchanger warranty was one year, even with the filter. Great video as always Alan. I personally dont rate ideal all that much. The logics are terrible in my opinion and riddled with issues. I've never installed a vogue though and while I appreciate they're worlds apart from the logics, for the price of them I'd much rather install a vaillant instead. Just a thought for a future video, I noticed at the start of the vid you mentioned how you safely isolated the electrics. Given how gas safe are going to be pushing more on safe electrical isolation, perhaps a video demonstrating the importance of safe isolation as well correct methods of isolation and proving isolation. And also the importance of using temporary bonding clamps. My recent inspection touched on this and while I do take care while working on electrics, I have to admit that I'm terrible for just taking the fuse out and cutting straight into the cables without actually proving they're isolated 😔

@@robinmyman New builds are normally shocking from my experience, Doesn’t really matter on boiler as builders sometimes choose cheapest installers and they don,t get flushed. I flush quite a few systems on newish housing estates. I will always install ideal over any Worcester Bosch, But its all down to personal choice. Thank you so much for the comment.

Allen Hart why Ideal over Worcester Bosch...does the latter fail more than the Ideal? Hope you are right. 😀

Absolutely, Wasn’t blaming boiler. 👍
@johnburns40174 жыл бұрын
They do not leak if you tighten the cap. The cap is not meant to be left loose. It is for filling purposes only.
@timhancock66264 жыл бұрын
@@johnburns4017 Not if you read the manufacturers instructions. They always say leave it open. I was reading one this very morning....but yes, they all leak sooner or later and tightening them down is a solution only because it's the only alternative.

I really cant see how plastic can be more reliable than brass.....

I agree 👍

All the plastic on the ideals are made by grunfoss, they say they are tested against the brass and the plastic comes on top . But worchester prob the same and look at the state of them😂
@teecee904 жыл бұрын
And guess what .....plastic is cheaper than brass! Strange that.....
@01plumberman4 жыл бұрын
teecee90 it’s lighter too making it easier for installers to lift. The diverter on the plastic water set is also a paddle type which does not leak, unlike the brass models that have 0 rings that can leak and do.

Allen Hart I think for the kind of money that people pay for their heating equipment they should employ a company who stands behind their product from day 1 until day 5000. Companies who train their staff constantly and maintain a healthy stock of parts. Viesemann is such a company.
