@jean paul I have had 4 in a row since 1995 and have had no issues with any of them. I put 170k miles each on the first 2 and still see them around town after I sold them. 3rd one 100k miles when it was totaled in a very bad 6 rollover accident that we all walked away from with minor injuries and yes it was for sure partly if not all due to the integrity of the vehicle that it ended this way. My current one is 10 years old now with 30k miles as I no longer work so don't put the miles on it like I did while still working and it is like a brand new car and has had zero issues. One key thing to longevity and reliability to any vehicle is how you maintain them. If you treat them badly they will perform badly. 4 in a row can not just be a luck thing. Just saying. Not in any hurry to change my current one but when the time comes it will for sure be replaced with a 5th one.

Ya theyre well made from my experience too. My dads A6 runs like a dream after 125.000 miles, with only one small repair Just recently. Our audi has just had normal maintenance every 6 months, and oil changes every 18.000 miles i think. Its an Audi A6 2013, 2.0 liter 4 cyl diesel with a manual gearbox People and the statistics always say to avoid the germans but ive always seen them run often very good if maintained properly, but i dont know. Its very contradicting. Taxis are often mercedes E classes, and they somehow make often more than 300.000 miles. Either im crazy or the statistics are just a bunch of bullcrap.

Yep, learned my lesson on this with my old A3. Cheap to buy, ridiculous to maintain. Water pumps (there are two) failed at 60,000 miles and cost two grand. And it still leaked oil and coolant. Great car to drive, no fun to live with.

Most reliable car i ever owned was my 2014 Mercedes C300 that I bought used with low miles in 2014 and still have it in 2022. I do my own work and the only thing it really needed was brake pads and brake fluid flush along with yearly oil changes and the air filter change every 2 years since i only put 7k a year on it. Front brakes are by far the easiest car to change on the C300, compared to my Fords and Audi. Did front break pad swap in 30 min, they come out and in like a freaking Atari cartridge.

I'm a Lexus guy now, it's pretty awesome to not be on a first name basis with everybody in service as well as their wives and kids, exchanging Christmas cards every year. A realtor friend drives nothing but Audis. I don't think he's had one as long as a year (he leases). He had one A6's engine blow up - literally - at 17k miles. I guess if you're ok with leasing it doesn't matter. I like to buy a car and drive it until the wheels fall off.

So... I'm on my third Jag, and yes, I owned an X-Type with 165,000 miles on it before. With that one, as long as you knew to change the transfer case oil at some point despite Jaguar not thinking it ever needed it, you'd be fine. The current one's a supercharged XE, and at 73,000 miles it hasn't blown up or anything yet! Indications are it'll be good for a fair while yet. Thing with used luxury cars is that they usually have odd service requirements that the OEM doesn't disclose and sometimes just doesn't know about. Any time you see the words "sealed for life," first thing to do is figure out how to crack the thing open.

Yes! You clearly know your old European cars. I have 1997 BMW Z3, the differential, manual gearbox, oxygen sensors are for the life of the vehicle. Thank God for online community forums, because what the scumbag accountants at BMW financial meant by life of the vehicle, they actually meant the planned-obsolescence date. I change my oil every 7500, and everything else ABSOLUTELY gets flushed out every two years, regardless of low miles or not. Hey, the way i see it, buying $200 worth of oil and spending three days to swap them all is still a LOT easier than buying a new car and working years to pay off the loan + sticker value. You asked this question, "Why do people STILL buy these problematic vehicles?" throughout your video. I'm going to take a jab at that question & I hope people agree & support my theory. These luxury cars (in my opinion) is & always will sell because those cars are ATTRACTIVE!! The MOST reliable cars are , (say it with me folks) ....UGLY!! 👹. The designers of these DEPENDABLE LUXURY cars must be the same C.E.O's of the 80's. They have no innovative ideas. They are afraid to be different. They need to hire younger designers to upgrade these vehicles. Trust me....it's NOT the name B.M.W /Mercedes... that's selling, it's the sleek & attractive design of those cars. We as consumers keep saying this but yr after yr they keep competing on who can make the UGLIEST most RELIABLE car. The real problem is that these fan boys have never driven an actual well made reliable car, so their trash-on-wheels is legit the only experience they have of "reliability".

I'm talking multiple road trips cross-country over the years, plus many many cold Northeast winters. Decided to trade it in for a 2018 A6 and that one's been running just as well so far. Nothing to my recollection needed to be serviced, aside from tire changes, but that can be done anywhere. However, when the odd issue arises, you WILL have to take it to Audi. These motors are very reliable even when tuned. The issues are the timing chain tensioner and very rarely the DSG control board. Both of those are pricey, but pretty rare. You want something reliable? Easy. Buy something you can actually afford the maintenance on. Yes, some car brands are just lemons like Land Rover. But in my experience being in a European car club, most people that complain about their cars breaking down all the time just cheap out on parts because they bought a used $60,000 car for way less and can’t pay for the actual maintenance. Even if the car cost you $10,000, you’re still maintaining a $60,000 car. Some people don’t understand that, buy a used luxury car because they can finally afford the buying price and then complain because they can’t keep up with maintenance. One of the cars I own is a N54 335i, one of the most “unreliable” engines by BMW. And it’s modified. No problems whatsoever. Why? Proper maintenance.

There was a period where jaguars were done right after Ford re-engineered a lot of it. I know something who put well into six figures on his X-Type manual transmission and said it was the most reliable car he's ever owned. Me? I bought a 2008 XJ with 17k on it 11 yrs ago. It's a terrific ride, gives me very little trouble and it's stunning. Very difficult to part with it!

I have a 2009 XF Superchaged. Best jag I’ve ever owned. 180,000 km. Zero issues. I’ve only had to replace the brakes and the oil. I also have a 95 XJS straight 6. Pretty good but the 420hp on the XF blocked it away. I looked at a 2012 XJ but the “limp mode/transmission fault” popped up on the test drive. The naturally aspirated XJ has known issues so is best avoided. I’ve also had a 76 XJ, 84 XJ and 89 xj40. All fair given their age. Next Jag is a F type...but the pandemic drove F Type prices through the roof. I’ll wait.

I am a testament to Ford having improved a LOT of things when they took over Jag. I have 2 XJ VDP sedans, a 2001 and a 2002. Love them both. They've needed some work over the years but never anything major ( neither engine nor transmission problems...both are solid). Both have 130K on the clock and the repairs they need are never wallet-busters. I have a great mechanic who knows them inside out....and I don't see him that often. Gorgeous cars that just waft down the highway. Frequently get compliments.

I always chuckle when I see these videos pop up. My mom had a Lexus that was driven sparingly and it had issues. Her Mercedes had issues and now her brand new BMW is having transmission issues that the dealer cannot narrow down because its sporadic. She use to question the reliability of my Audi's all the time and refused to buy one. Between my wife and I we've had 5 Audi's with no major issues. Her first A6 went over 300k with just oil and filter changes. Her twin turbo V6 A6 went over 250k with the only major purchase being the control arms. The uppers were worn so we changed all of them. The parts cost a whopping $400 from FCP Groton now FCP Euro, other than that just regular maintenance. I've done a timing belt on my Audi A6 wagon myself with hand tools and the timing belt kit which included the tool from ECS tuning for about $250 at the time. I currently have a C7 3.0t and the only thing other than regular oil and filter changes that has been done was the thermostat. It currently has over 130k and still puts a smile on my face. Zero of the 5 have had electrical problems, a common claim that everyone references when talking about how unreliable they are. All were easier to work on than my mothers Mercedes and Lexus. The only thing that would prevent me from buying another is the fact that the material quality of the interiors seems to be going down hill as they cut costs to better compete. I can't speak for anyone but myself and I refuse to believe that I'm just that lucky since based on all these reliably videos and surveys, the odds are not in my favor.

Its truely amazing how the Europeans are such big players in the global car industry despite making the worst cars that actually function beyond a year. It's not like it's a isolated problem too as they have earned that reputation for poor quality. And I should know as my family had a Volvo. Never get a European brand again. They had their chance.

I have driven everything, good, bad , cheap, expensive and very expensive cars, but when I got my hands on this S8, I knew this is it. For me it is the last good proper car to drive ever made and there will be no more like this, beacuse of those idiots in greenpeace saving the planet bullshit. I use it for my family with two children in the back and not for racing and more I drive it, more I feel it was made for more than 1M km. I have about 290k km and it feels like 2-3 year old car. When I bought it, everyone I know had some bad words for it, after a year, everyone want to buy one, even for a lot more money that I paid. And spare parts are very cheap, don't forget it is not a new car and you can do 3/4 of work on everything if you don't have two left hands. First owners had a lot money for servicing, so find one with good history and you will be ok. Don't buy with ceramic brakes and Banq&Olufsen speakers, that is very very expensive to service...and look for that aluminum cover on top of the engine ( don't know english word for it ) when it was replaced. It needs new one every 200-250k km. 10 years ago was 7500eur to replace at the audi dealer, now you can buy it new for 1300eur and replace it yourself :)) Don't worry too much, you can allways sell it ;)

It now has 180K miles, it's s-m-o-o-t-h straight six still refuses to leak or burn oil, and is certainly the best car I have ever owned. Am I just lucky? Maybe. But it seems to me that with the E46, BMW had the code. Hydraulic steering so precise, no unneeded gimmicks, super comfortable and always a joy to drive. And after almost 100K miles is still worth 3-4K, so my depreciation (the biggest cost of owning a car) is less than 3 cents per mile. And I'm still enjoying it every day. :-)

I bought it in 2012 with 17,000km on the clock and I’ve had 0 issues with it even to this day with 150,000km on the clock and the BMW technicians say it’s the best example they’ve seen, however it is basically 10 years old now so I may look at an F30 LCI or F32 4 Series 2016. Most of my Toyota work vehicles have over 700k on the clock, no issues. I also bought a VW for work purposes. It is now sitting in my yard rotting and rusting at only 250k on the clock. The question is what is to look rich? Driving a car? A german car for example? American cars cost just as much any American suv reaches $50k today, listen I’m not saying don’t get one just get your priorities in order some people drive expensive cars and live with their parents or in a bad neighborhood don’t be that guy get a good job, career or your own business then get your house secure your retirement and then go and get that machine the you have been waiting all your life !!!!
