ideaMaker Slicer Setup - Printer Profiles

I’m used to S3D and in fact IdeaMaker is the slicer with the most similar workflow. I hope this series will help me to overcome the struggles I currently have with IdeaMaker and complete full transition from S3D to IdeaMaker in all my printers. Thank you Joe!

Ideamaker is really a exceptional slicer , worth Slic3R or Cura... and also available for Linux ! Excellent Video.

Hi just a note: if you add content of the data file to the gcode or even put it on a separate file and save that to the micro sd card of an Ender 3 it will give problems while printing. For some reason it does not start the end gcode and the ender 3 will hang. That's the reason most people uncheck those boxes. I don't know if it gives the same problems on a ender 3 v2

I have a Voxelabs Aquila X2. Would I be better off using the Aquila V1 profile or the Ender 3 X2 profile?

Great Video, Thanks a lot. Helped me to realise that the imported settings of your printer (Zaribo 420), which I can find in the Ideamaker Database, is missing a (x) at the printer /advanced settings for "Change GCode E-Length for ...", which stopped the slicer frm accepting my flow settings. And I was wondering why.. Now I know and can work with Ideamaker and follows your videos. Thanks again - regards from cold Northern part of Germany/Manfred.

I've been using ideaMaker for a few years! I had issues with Cura that were just ignoring my retraction settings. I didn't know Cura was ignoring them until I tried IdeaMaker and when I did, all my issues disappeared.

Nice! You have convinced me to use it since about 6 months. I like your videos series to tune 3D printing with multiples adjustments in one print like bringing for example. I have a question: is it possible to send directly the gcode to octopi the for example? On fusion 360 you can add a ssh command line to send the file in the same time you save it. Maybe ideaMaker can do that?

I just looked at your IdeaMaker playlist and there is no filament profile setup video. I followed this tutorial, but when I went to print, the 'template' box was empty. So I clicked on 'more', then 'create' and the profile I had just created wasn't one of the options.

Sometimes, not always though. Prusa slicer has some preset language and commands for prusa which ideamaker doesn’t. Also for MMU slicer is the only option

I have a problem with the tool change part, it prints fine and when it has to change from extruder 1 to extruder 2 it does activate extruder 2 but doesn't do retraction on extruder 1 and the filament jams it's for wanhao d12/230

Joseph I have been looking at Cura alternatives and found this video. Therefore, I have down loaded ideaMaker and configured it for my Ender 3 Pro (with Direct Drive) following your steps - refreshingly simple. My next step is to follow your your filament profile video. QUESTION - I cannot see where ideaMaker stores the profiles (that is where to put any I might want to download from ideaMaker.io). Any clues? David

You can save a profile anywhere and then simply import or export the profile through ideamaker

I am sure it doesn't matter but just for clarity the version I D/L (3.6.1.4415) did not have an option for just PLA only [Raise3D PLA 1.75.]

It doesn’t in fact, choose any 1.75 PLA type and then you can modify it during the filament profile process :)

If anyone is having issues with a Voxelab printer like I was the start gcode is the issue. Change it to this and it will work G92 E0 ; reset extruder G1 Z1.0 F3000 ; move z up little to prevent scratching of surface G1 X0.1 Y20 Z0.3 F5000.0 ; move to start-line position G1 X0.1 Y200.0 Z0.3 F1500.0 E15 ; draw 1st line G1 X0.4 Y200.0 Z0.3 F5000.0 ; move to side a little G1 X0.4 Y20 Z0.3 F1500.0 E30 ; draw 2nd line G92 E0 ; reset extruder

Printers like stacker s4 use 4 extruders in parallel to print 4 models simultaneously. Ideamaker won't help as it only allows 2 extruders.

Well, this is pretty basic stuff. How to connect to the printer? Are networked printers supported? I don't think so. Only Raise3D type printers can be selected, which is a big fail and worth to mention. Auto-Discovery for other branded printers? Doesn't work! So either sell the software with all features enabled or STFO. I'm willing to pay! But certainly not for some crippled shit that only works nicely for Raise3D stuff. Over and out.

So, you have to create a new profile when you change to a different nozzle? Looks like you have to create a new printer profile just changing filament. No wonder I decided this was a massive piece of shit.
