@@rickhardman7376 yes memories are precious but not having the closure of being able to lay their body to rest is unexplainable. I had a family member who was killed and 10 years later no body has been found, it makes accepting the reality that they are dead very hard.

Brooke: Well the way that I see it is -- once someone is dead. They are are no longer there. The body is just material. It means nothing. Hopefully -- everyone has some sort of spirit -- soul and in that case -- it is non-local. One could hopefully try to connect with that spirit and it could be anywhere on earth that one could do that. Kind of hard to explain.

I lost my cousin in a mining explosion that killed 29 men, we never got his body back the only things we got back was the stuff in his locker, very thankful that we got the stuff in his locker back but it’s a feeling of endless pain and heartache and longing for him in ways others will never understand. I just wish some days I could go sit with a grave and cry or I could go sit down with him in a grave site and talk to him about life and stuff. All I have is a poster to remember him by bc the rest of his items went to his mum and sister and to his unborn daughter who he never met. I would love to know what closure feels like but I doubt I ever will, the people responsible for the mine have never faced any consequences of their actions either so it’s like pouring salt into a wound that’s already opened as it is. So I know a lot about what these people have gone through in terms of receiving little to no closure and it’s not a feeling I wish on my worst enemy 🥺😓💔

Not just in our country but literally anywhere. Using airplanes (large ones) going 600 mph with people in it to ram into buildings standing hundreds of feet in the air. Then to have them collapse while people are still inside or leaning out the windows trying to get air or waving their arms if they can to show they are alive and need help. Then hearing stories about kids, probably my age, who lost both parents in this attack. Makes me sad...but yet so thankful for life.

Another tragedy, the 1944 circus fire in Hartford, Connecticut, had a similar outcome. Some of those who went missing were never identified as some of the bodies of those trapped in the big top as it burned down around them were too badly damaged. Loved ones who did not have a body to bury held out hope that their missing loved one wasn't really dead, but had suffered a head injury and wandered off, amnesiac. They spent their whole lives hoping. Human nature is like that.

Most of the people who died in the WTC attack were above/in the impacts or in the planes. They ID'ed 1/2 the people[so far], mostly the FD and PD who were actual bodies under the collapse. The plane and floors of impact victims were blasted to smithereens for sure. I'll bet the people they can't ID are the ones 5 or 7 floors above the impacts that roasted in that 800 degree inferno for an hour. and are charred bits of bone. The 200 jumpers were a puddle covered with 100k tons of dust and stuff. Sorry to be so gruesome, but terror is ugly and shows no mercy. It is possible I suppose that maybe a couple of people said ' well everyone thinks I was at work and died, so I can start a new life somewhere else'. Maybe.

wiibaron there weren't likely many people that burned to death though, seeing as how there were many phone calls coming from floors barely above the impact zone. I would love to see the dad now in 2021. Did they find something?! My heart is broken for everyone that was involved in this tragic day.

My heart goes out to EVERY single person...animal...who went through this. i CANNOT even begin to imaggine...no words whatsoever. But NYC is made of a TOUGH bunch of humans....NEW YORK TOUGH. Rest in Eternal peace. Gone but NEVER EVER FORGOTTEN. I had just gotten off my 12 hour shift as an ER RN in Missouri...sat down to eat breakfast and watch the news and i saw it on TV not in person. and that day is engraved in my head...my heart...my soul...even 23 years later. Peace to all. 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

There is such EVIL in this world! ... It's incredibly sad. To all those who believe in God, I say, "Where was your God, THAT day?" R.I.P. to all those innocent souls, who lost their lives on that fateful day! ❤️

To find a word that will convey the sadness in my heart for your lost and sorrow is not possible. This word just doesn’t exist. iI believe we will all meet and rejoice in a better place one day. For this I pray 🙏

They may be physically gone, but their spirit will always always be with their loved ones. They were and still am loved by so many and with that love, they never truly dies. Rest assured, We will all meet again on the other side. I hope that poor father knows that his son will always be with him.

Sometimes religion can be so uncompromising. You can't bury an empty casket? Come on now. Sometimes there is no body for heaven sake.

As an atheist myself, I wouldnt want someone to bury just a casket. It doesnt make pragmatic sense
