I have Titan Rx turf fescue mixed with Barenbrug RTF Turf Type Tall Fescue and it’s doing great in the Texas heat.

Will TTTF grow in Indiana?
@snowsolo Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. That's where I'm at and it's probably the best type to use up here in NE indiana. Mow it tall in the summer. Try to maintain 4 inches thru the hot months of July and August. Keep the blades sharp. GCI Academy makes a terrific mid summer fert 5-0-5 that's low in nitrogen but has iron and sea kelp and fulvic acid to help feed during heat stress and low precipitation times.

He's right about the lawnmower blade, I cut my lawn twice a week after a month the blade looks like a hack saw blade.

Thinking about going with this TTTF here on MN/IA border, on 3 acres, but don't like the idea of having to overseed every year. We need a low-input lawn on account of the size.

I was told to put 10-10-10 on my yard for the soil. What application rate should I use??
@MostlySunny20104 жыл бұрын
Get a soil test and know what your soil actually needs. It is never good to put down unnecessary fertilizer, especially phosphorous. The nitrogen component of your fertilizer should have a high percentage of slow release nitrogen as possible. Avoid fertilizers with a high percentage of urea content as the single source of nitrogen.

If you Google....tall fescue is considered an undesirable grass. Its listed along side quack, nutsedge, crabgrass, etc. So WHY do seed companies sell it? I hate the stuff. It's clumpy and stands out from other grasses. Especially if it's dry out. So back to my question...why is it sold ? To me it's the equivalent of selling a bag of quack grass or crabgrass.

turf type tall fescue is not the same as what you're reading about.
